AURSF Holds Felicitation Programme to Honour Distinguished Scientists

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২৮ নভেম্বর : বিশিষ্ট অধ্যাপক ও বিজ্ঞানীদের জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক স্তরে সাম্প্রতিক সাফল্যের স্বীকৃতি জানাতে শুক্রবার এক বর্ণাঢ্য সম্মাননা অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে আসাম ইউনিভার্সিটি রিসার্চ স্কলার্স ফোরাম। এদিন এই অনুষ্ঠান আয়োজিত হয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের গণজ্ঞাপন বিভাগে। স্বাগত ভাষণ দেন স্কলার্স ফোরামের সভাপতি সন্দীপ দাস। তিনি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপক ও গবেষকদের কৃতিত্বকে ‘গৌরবের মুহূর্ত’ বলে উল্লেখ করেন এবং ফোরামের পক্ষ থেকে গবেষণার উৎকর্ষ সাধনে অব্যাহত প্রচেষ্টার কথা তুলে ধরেন।

অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভারপ্রাপ্ত উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক অশোক কুমার সেন। তিনি পুরস্কারপ্রাপ্ত অধ্যাপকদের অভিনন্দন জানিয়ে বলেন, তাঁদের এই সাফল্য আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শৈক্ষিক ক্ষমতা ও আন্তর্জাতিক স্তরে অবস্থানকে আরও শক্তিশালী করেছে। তিনি উল্লেখ করেন, এমন সম্মান উদীয়মান গবেষকদের অনুপ্রাণিত করে ও যুগোপযোগী মানসম্মত গবেষণাকে আরও এগিয়ে নিয়ে যায়।

অনুষ্ঠানে সম্মানিত করা হয় এলসেভিয়ের ২০২৫ সালের ২ শতাংশ বিশ্বসেরা বিজ্ঞানীর তালিকায় স্থান পাওয়া আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপকদের। তাঁদের মধ্যে ছিলেন অধ্যাপক অরুণজ্যোতি নাথ, অধ্যাপক পীয়ূষ পাণ্ডে, ড. রবিনারায়ন এন পারহি, ড. উৎপল সরকার ও ড. শুভদীপ রায়চৌধুরী।

এছাড়াও এদিনের অনুষ্ঠানে সম্মান জানানো হয় ২০২৫ সালের ‘উইমেন সায়েন্টিস্ট অ্যাওয়ার্ডে’ ভূষিত অধ্যাপক ইয়াসমিন চৌধুরীকে। তাঁর অসামান্য গবেষণা অবদান ও তরুণ গবেষকদের উৎসাহিত করার ভূমিকা অনুষ্ঠানে বিশেষভাবে উল্লেখ করা হয়। শেষে ধন্যবাদ জ্ঞাপন করেন স্কলার্স ফোরামের সাধারণ সম্পাদক নাজিমা বেগম।

Way2barak, November 28 : The Assam University Research Scholars’ Forum (AURSF) on Friday organised a grand felicitation ceremony at the Department of Mass Communication to honour professors and scientists of Assam University who have recently earned notable national and international accolades.

The programme began with a welcome address by AURSF President Sandip Das, who expressed pride in celebrating the university’s leading achievers. He highlighted the forum’s commitment to encouraging research excellence and fostering a vibrant academic culture.

Prof. Ashok K. Sen, Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge) of Assam University, graced the event as Chief Guest. In his address, he congratulated the awardees and said their achievements reflect the growing academic stature and global visibility of the university. He noted that such recognitions inspire emerging scholars and reinforce the institution’s dedication to quality research.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the felicitation of Assam University faculty members featured in the prestigious Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List 2025. The honoured scholars were Prof. Arun Jyoti Nath (Ecology & Environmental Science), Dr. Rabinarayan N. Parhi (Pharmaceutical Sciences), Prof. Piyush Pandey (Microbiology), Dr. Utpal Sarkar (Physics), and Dr. Shubhadeep Roychoudhury (Life Science & Bioinformatics). Their impactful contributions and significant global citations have considerably enhanced the university’s academic reputation.

The event also celebrated the remarkable achievement of Prof. Yashmin Choudhury, who received the Best Woman Scientist Award 2025 from the Indian Immunology Society (IIS). Her notable contributions to immunological research and dedication to mentoring young scholars earned widespread appreciation. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by AURSF General Secretary Najima Begum.
