DC Karimganj transferred by EC for ‘non-performance’, new DC M S Manivannan

April 12: In an emergent development, Phoni Bhushan Roy, Deputy Commissioner of Karimganj district cum Returning officer of Karimganj parliamentary seat was transferred by the Election Commission of India. He will be replaced by M S Manivannan, IAS, Director of the State Agriculture Department.

Sources revealed that the decision of transferring P.B. Roy was taken by the Election Commission on the basis of the confidential reports given by the central observers over his “non-performance” and “lack of knowledge” about the constituency. It needs mention here that Karimganj will go to polls during the second phase on 18 April, 2019.
