Barak Book Fair to be inaugurated on Friday

৮ নভেম্বরঃ বরাক উপত্যকা বঙ্গ সাহিত্য ও সংস্কৃতি সম্মেলনের ‘বরাক বইমেলা, শিলচর’ শুক্রবার বিকেল ৩টায় উদ্বোধন হবে। রাজ্যের বন, পরিবেশ, মতস্য ও আবগারি দফতরের মন্ত্রী পরিমল শুক্লবৈদ্য এর আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন করবেন। বিভিন্ন প্রকাশকদের পাঠানো বই এরই মধ্যে শিলচরে এসে পৌঁছেছে। বই বিক্রেতাদের অধিকাংশ বৃহস্পতিবার এসে গিয়েছেন।

বই কেনাবেচা ছাড়াও প্রতিদিন মেলাপ্রাঙ্গণে বিভিন্ন কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করা হয়েছে। প্রতিদিন সন্ধ্যায় থাকবে সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান। ১১ নভেম্বর বেলা ১টায় আয়োজিত হচ্ছে সাহিত্যবাসর। বঙ্গ সাহিত্যের শিলচর শহর আঞ্চলিক সমিতির এই অনুষ্ঠানে গল্পপাঠ, নিবন্ধ পাঠ ছাড়াও থাকবে কবিতার আসর। কবিরা স্বরচিত কবিতা পড়ে শোনাবেন। আবৃত্তিকাররা করবেন আবৃত্তি। ফাঁকে ফাঁকে পরিবেশিত হবে গানবাজনা।
সে দিন সন্ধ্যা ৫টায় অনুষ্ঠিত হবে ‘সাংস্কৃতিক আগ্রাসন, প্রত্যাহ্বান’ শীর্ষক আলোচনা। তাতে অংশ নেবেন সঞ্জীব দেবলস্কর, শেখর দেবরায় ও জয়শ্রীভূষণ। সঞ্চালনায় দীপক সেনগুপ্ত। মোট ৪দিন একই সময়ে আলোচনা হবে।

১৩ নভেম্বরের আলোচনার বিষয়–‘বরাক উপত্যকার বহুভাষিক চরিত্রঃ ঐতিহ্যের অনুসন্ধান’ । তাতে অংশ নেবেন আবিদ রাজা চৌধুরী, মণিধন সিংহ ও সুদীপ্তা খেরসা। সঞ্চালনায় অমলেন্দু ভট্টাচার্য। ১৫ নভেম্বর ‘অস্থির আসামঃ পথের খোঁজে’ বিষয়ে আলোচনা করবেন তৈমুর রাজা চৌধুরী, অরিজিত আদিত্য, ধর্মানন্দ দেব। সঞ্চালনায় জয়দীপ বিশ্বাস। ১৭ নভেম্বরের বিষয় ‘আর্থ-সামাজিক সংকটে বরাকঃ উত্তরণের দিশা’ । গৌতমপ্রসাদ দত্তের সঞ্চালনায় এই আলোচনায় অংশ নেবেন পুণ্যপ্রিয় চৌধুরী, ইমাদউদ্দিন বুলবুল ও অরবিন্দ রায়।

১৮ নভেম্বর মেলার শেষদিনে হবে সমাপ্তি অনুষ্ঠান। তাতে স্টলসজ্জার ওপর পুরস্কার প্রদান করা হবে বলে বইমেলা কমিটির আহ্বায়ক প্রদীপ আচার্য জানিয়েছেন। একই অনুষ্ঠানে প্রকাশিত হবে বইমেলা উপলক্ষে মুদ্রিত স্যুভেনিয়র ‘বইকথা’ ।

November 8: It’s a good news for the book lovers of this valley. ‘Barak Book Fair, Silchar’ organised by Barak Upottaka Banga Sahitya O Sanskriti Sammelan will be inaugurated at 3 PM on Friday. The fair will be inaugurated by state Minister Parimal Suklabaidya. Meanwhile, almost all of the book sellers have already reached Silchar on Thursday.

The Book Fair will also witness various cultural programmes, like literary meet, recitation, performance of songs etc. A panel discussion on the issue of ‘Cultural Aggression’ will be held on 11 November at the Book Fair premises at 5 PM. Sanjib Deblaskar, Jayashree Bhusan and Shekhar Debroy will be the panelists. The said discussion will be compered by Dipak Sengupta.

Another panel discussion on the topic ‘Multi lingual character of Barak Valley: In Quest of a Tradition’ will be held on 13 November. It will be compered by Dr. Amalendu Bhattacharjee and Abid Raja Choudhury, Manidhan Singh and Sudipta Khersha will be the panelists. Again, on 15 November another such discussion on the topic ‘Unrest in Assam: In Quest of a Road’ will take place. The panelists for this day will be Taimur Raja Choudhury, Arijit Aditya and Dharmananda Deb. It will be compered by Joydeep Biswas. The last panel discussion will be held on 17 November. The topic of the discussion will be ‘Barak Valley in Socio-Economic Crisis: The way to emerge out.’ The discussion will be compared by Gautam Prasad Dutta and Purnapriya Choudhury, Imad Uddin Bulbul and Arabinda Roy will be the panelists.

The closing ceremony of the Book Fair will be on 18 November. On this day, prizes will be distributed based on set up of the book stalls. A souvenir ‘Boikotha’ will also be released on that day. This was informed by Pradip Acharjee on behalf of the Book Fair Committee.
