Sonapur Tunnel is now all clear and the debris have been removed

way2barak, Sept.8: As per the latest update on Sonapur Tunnel issued by the East Jaintia Hills Police on NH-06 as of 10:00 am on 8 September, 2022, the Sonapur Tunnel is now all clear and the debris have been removed. “Happy Commuting and Drive Safe,” wished the East Jaintia Hills Police.

Earlier, landslide occurred at Sonapur Tunnel on Tuesday morning thereby causing disruption of Shillong Guwahati vehicular movement at NH-06. Towards afternoon, DC East Jaintia Hills District informed that one lane has been cleared and so one way traffic was opened. However, later on, it was learnt that a huge boulder fell down from the adjoining mountain which resulted in blocking the entrance to the Sonapur tunnel.
