MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy raises the issue of incomplete Mahasadak in Lok Sabha

June 26: On Tuesday, while speaking during the Motion of thanks to the Presidential address, BJP MP from Silchar, Dr. Rajdeep Roy raised the issue of Citizenship Amendment Bill and said that the passage of this bill will be the atonement for the sufferings million of people undertook during partition. Just a day later, on Wednesday, Dr. Roy once again stood up to speak on the issue of incomplete Mahasadak.

Rajdeep raised this issue during the ‘Matter of urgent public importance.’ He said that the stretch of 31 kms of road from ‘Balachara to Harengajao’ is still unfinished since the launch of this ambitious plan by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He said, “It was a dream of Atalji to connect entire India in a form of golden quadrilateral. The foundation stone of this 4 lane expressway connecting Silchar with Saurashtra was laid in 2004.” He said that with the entry of UPA government in power at the centre, this project got delayed.

He then said, “It’s due to the apathy of the then central and state government that on the pretext of no clearance from wildlife and forest department, the road in between ‘Balachara to Harengajao’ covering a stretch of only 31 kms was never completed. But recently, the problem of securing clearance has been solved. In this backdrop, I want to know from the concerned minister the present status of that particular slice of road which if completed would connect Silchar with Guwahati.”

He also highlighted the miserable plight of the people of Assam due to non-completion of the Mahasadak. Later on speaking with way2barak, Dr. Rajdeep Roy said that he is commitment bound to the people of Barak Valley in general and to that of his constituency in particular. He said, “I will leave no stones unturned to see that the work of this Mahasadak gets completed.”
