Year long programme to be held to mark centenary of renowned journalist Jyotirindra Ch Dutta

March 22: The birth centenary of renowned journalist and founder of “Prantojyoti Dainik’, Jyotirindra Chandra Dutta, popular as “Kalada” will be observed. He was born on 22 March. To commemorate his contribution in the media sector of the valley, a year long celebrations was taken in hand by Barak Nagarik Sangsad. A meeting in this connection was held by the Sangsad at Silchar Press Club on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sankar Dey on behalf of Barak Nagarik Sangsad said, “The year long celebration of the birth centenary of Jyotirindra Chandra Dutta will begin on 22 March. He was born on 22 March, 1922. He was the pathfinder of print media in Barak Valley. A bouquet of programme will follow throughout the year. He was a harbinger of honest journalism. He was also involved in various social activities. His ideology still continues to inspire many in the field of journalism over here.
