Tripura cabinet resolves to release 3% DA to employees & pensioners on 1 March

Feb. 28: In a significant move, the Tripura Cabinet in a meeting decided to to release three per cent pending dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners on 1 March, 2021. It needs mention here that after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent nationwide lockdown, the Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India issued a notification on 23 April, 2020 freezing Dearness Allowance to its employees and Dearness Relief to pensioners at current rates till July 2021. Following this, the state governments too decided to freeze DA of its employees and pensioners for 2 years.

However, Tripura government has decided to release the DA to its employees and pensioners from next month. Education minister Ratan Lal Nath claimed that Tripura has set an example to other states in this regard. He further informed that a total of 1,90,504 state government employees and pensioners will get their 3 percent DA for which the government will spend an amount of Rs 320 crore.
