ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২৪ মার্চ ঃ শিলচরের গুরুচরণ কলেজে চারদিনব্যাপী টপিক্যাল রিসার্চ স্কুল শেষ হলো বৃহস্পতিবার। গুরুচরণ কলেজের পদার্থবিদ্যা বিভাগ এবং কলকাতার সত্যেন্দ্রনাথ বোস ন্যাশনাল সেন্টার ফর বেসিক সায়েন্সের যৌথ উদ্যোগে গত ২০ মার্চ থেকে ২৩ মার্চ পর্যন্ত একটি টপিক্যাল রিসার্চ স্কুল আয়োজিত হয়। “কারেন্ট ট্রেন্ডস ইন থিওরেটিক্যাল অ্যান্ড এক্সপেরিমেন্টাল ফিজিক্স” শীর্ষক স্কুলে গুরুচরণ কলেজের পদার্থবিদ্যা বিভাগের ছাত্রছাত্রী ছাড়াও করিমগঞ্জ কলেজ, কাছাড় কলেজ, শ্রীকিষান সারদা কলেজ, এনআইটি শিলচর এবং আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্রছাত্রী এবং গবেষকরা যোগদান করেন।

উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পদার্থবিদ্যা বিভাগের অধ্যাপক তথা বিশিষ্ট জ্যোতির্বিজ্ঞানী ডঃ অশোক কুমার সেন। এছাড়াও উপস্থিত ছিলেন কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ ডঃ বিভাস দেব, ডঃ ইন্দ্রজিত শর্মা, অধ্যাপক দীপেন্দু দাস, ডঃ মিহির কান্তি নাথ, সমরকান্তি রায় চৌধুরী, ডঃ অসীম রায়, ডঃ ইন্দিরা দে, ডঃ জয়দীপ পাল, ডঃ রাজর্ষি নাথ, ডঃ হিমাদ্রি শেখর দাস প্রমুখ। রিসার্চ স্কুলের কোর্ডিনেটর ডঃ অপ্রতিম নাগ স্বাগত ভাষণ দেন। অনুষ্ঠানে সত্যেন্দ্রনাথ বোস ন্যাশনাল সেন্টার ফর বেসিক সায়েন্স থেকে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ডঃ অভিজিত চৌধুরী যিনি এই স্কুলের কো-কোর্ডিনেটর।

এই চারদিনের স্কুলে দেশের বিভিন্ন প্রতিষ্ঠানের অভিজ্ঞ গবেষক এবং শিক্ষকরা ক্লাস নেন। এদের মধ্যে উল্লেখযোগ্য হচ্ছেন আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপক অশোক কুমার সেন, অধ্যাপক ইন্দ্রজিৎ শর্মা, অধ্যাপক অত্রি দেশমুখ্য, ডঃ হিমাদ্রি শেখর দাস, সত্যেন্দ্রনাথ বোস সেন্টারের ডঃ অভিজিৎ চৌধুরী, ডঃ মনোজ মণ্ডল, ডঃ তাপস বাগ, তেজপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ডঃ প্রলয় কুমার কর্মকার, এনআইটি শিলচরের ডঃ সৌম্য মহাপাত্র, ডঃ শুভাশিস পাণ্ডা, ডঃ রূপক দত্ত এবং জওহর লাল নেহরু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ডঃ রামপ্রসাদ প্রজাপতি।

আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পদার্থবিদ্যা বিভাগের সহযোগী অধ্যাপক ডঃ হিমাদ্রি শেখর দাসের বক্তব্য খুব আকর্ষণীয় ছিলো। ধূমকেতু এবং গ্রহাণু অধ্যয়নের মাধ্যমে কীভাবে সৌরজগতের জন্মবৃত্তান্ত অধ্যয়ন করা যেতে পারে এটাই ছিলো আলোচনার মূল বিষয়। ডঃ দাসের আলোচনায় জানা গেছে, সৌরজগত সৃষ্টি হয়েছিলো প্রায় ৪৫০ কোটি বছর আগে। ঠিক সেইসময় নাকি ধূমকেতু এবং গ্রহাণুও সৃষ্টি হয়েছিলো। তাই এই দু’টো মহাজাগতিক বস্তুর অধ্যয়ন খুব প্রয়োজন।

ধূমকেতু এবং গ্রহাণু অধ্যয়ন করতে আমেরিকার, ইউরোপ এবং জাপানের স্পেস এজেন্সি বিগত কয়েক বছরে নানা পরিকল্পনা গ্রহণ করে এবং বেশ কয়েকটি স্পেস মিশনের রূপরেখা তৈরি করা হয়। প্রতিটি মিশন সাফল্যের মুখ দেখে। এই স্পেস মিশন থেকে নানা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ তথ্য বিজ্ঞানীরা জানতে পারেন। সেই তথ্য গুলোই ডঃ দাস বিস্তারিত তুলে ধরেন। সম্প্রতি আমেরিকার নাসার একটি “ডার্ট স্পেস মিশন” নিয়েও তিনি আলোচনা করেন। ডার্ট স্পেসক্রাফট একটি গ্রহানুকে আঘাত করে কক্ষচ্যূত করে। এই মিশনের সাফল্যে বিজ্ঞানীরা বেশ আনন্দিত, কারণ আগামীতে কোনও গ্রহাণু বা ধূমকেতু পৃথিবীর দিকে ধেয়ে আসলে সেটাকে অন্য পথে সরিয়ে দেবার প্রযুক্তি বিজ্ঞানীরা সফলভাবে পরীক্ষা করেছেন। বৃহস্পতিবার চার দিনব্যাপী রিসার্চ স্কুলের সমাপনী অনুষ্ঠান জি সি কলেজের কনফারেন্স হলে আয়োজিত হয়।

Way2barak, March 24 : A four-day topical research school on “Current Trends in Theoretical and Experimental Physics” was jointly organized by the Physics Department of Gurucharan College and the Satyendra Nath Bose National Center for Basic Sciences in Kolkata, and concluded at Gurucharan College in Silchar on Thursday, March 23rd. Students from Gurucharan College, Karimganj College, Cachar College, Srikishan Sarada College, NIT Silchar, and Assam University attended the school, which was held from March 20th to March 23rd.

Prof. Asoke Kumar Sen of Department of Physics, Assam University, an eminent astronomer of the country, attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, along with the principal of the college Dr. Bibhash Dev, and other distinguished guests such as Dr. Indrajit Sharma, Prof. Dipendu Das, Dr. Mihir Kanti Nath, Mr. Samarkanti Roy Chowdhury, Dr. Asim Roy, Dr. Indira Dey, Dr. Jaydeep Pal, Dr. Rajarshi Nath, Dr. Himadri Sekhar Das, and others. Dr. Apratim Nag, the research school coordinator, delivered the welcome address, and Dr. Abhijit Chowdhury from the Satyendranath Bose National Center for Basic Sciences, who was a joint co-ordinator of the school, also attended the event.

Experienced faculty from different institutions across the country delivered lectures in this four-day school, including Prof. Asoke Kumar Sen, Prof. Indrajit Sharma, Prof. Atri Deshmukhya, Dr. Himadri Sekhar Das of Assam University, Dr. Abhijit Chowdhury, Dr. Manoj Mondal, Dr. Tapas Bagh of Satyendra Nath Bose National Center for Basic Sciences, Dr. Praloy Kumar Karmakar of Tezpur University, Dr. Soumya Mahapatra, Dr. Subhashis Panda, Dr. Rupak Dutta of NIT Silchar, and Dr. Ram Prasad Prajapati of Jawaharlal Nehru University.

One of the lectures delivered by Dr. Himadri Sekhar Das, Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Assam University, was particularly interesting. He discussed the importance of studying comets and asteroids to understand the origin of the Solar System, which was formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago. Dr. Das emphasized the significance of studying these cosmic objects and explained that space agencies in the United States, Europe, and Japan have undertaken various plans to study them in recent years. He also discussed some recent space mission by NASA called the “DART Mission,” which involved hitting and orbiting an asteroid to test the technology needed to divert any future asteroids or comets that may pose a threat to Earth. The Valedictory Session of the four- day topical research school was held on 23rd March at the conference hall of G.C.College, Silchar.
