32 detected Covid +ve till 6 PM in Cachar on Monday, 48 discharged & 2 deaths at SMCH

There are 315 active cases in the district

July 19:  A total of 32 new cases of COVID-19 was reported till 6 PM on Monday in Cachar. The number of positive cases is expected to rise towards the night. During the day, 3,679 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in which 29 were found positive, whereas 03 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR test. Also, during the day, 48 persons got cured including a 97-year-old lady and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 315 active cases in the district. It needs mention here that 29 persons were detected Covid-19 positive on Sunday.

The Covid-19 situation in Cachar is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 18 July to 5 PM on 19 July) witnessed the death of 02 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Monday evening.

The deceased were identified as Rajiya Begum from Bandarghat in Karimganj district and Prabhath Bikram Das (90) from Sonai Road, Silchar.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 19 July, there were 67 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 47 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 20 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 03 patients were put under ventilator support and 51 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 07 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 15 of them were discharged.
