2 অক্টোবর : মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সর্বানন্দ সোনোয়াল দেশের তৃতীয় সর্বোচ্চ জাতীয় পতাকা রাজ্যবাসীকে উৎসর্গ করলেন। মহাত্মা গান্ধীর ১৫০তম জন্মজয়ন্তী উপলক্ষে মঙ্গলবার গুয়াহাটির গান্ধীমণ্ডপে আয়োজিত এক অনুষ্ঠানে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী রাজ্যের সর্বোচ্চ এই জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করেন।

রাজ্য সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে এক বিবৃতিতে বলা হয়েছে, এই জাতীয় পতাকাটি ৩১৯.৫ ফুট উঁচুতে স্থাপন করা হয়েছে, যা দেশের মধ্যে সর্বোচ্চ। অথচ প্রাপ্ত সূত্রে জানা গেছে, এটি দেশের মধ্যে তৃতীয় সর্বোচ্চ জাতীয় পতাকা। আটারি সীমান্তে যে জাতীয় পতাকাটি রয়েছে তার উচ্চতা ৩৬০ ফুট। দেশের দ্বিতীয় সর্বোচ্চ জাতীয় পতাকাটি রয়েছে পুনের পিম্পরি চিঞ্চওয়াড় ভক্তি শক্তি চকে। এর উচ্চতা ৩৫১ ফুট।

এই কাজটি করেছে মেসার্স বাজাজ ইলেক্ট্রিক্যালস লিমিটেড। কাজ শুরু হয়েছে চলতি বছরের এপ্রিল মাসে। বিবৃতিতে আরও বলা হয়েছে, এই পুরো প্রকল্পের জন্য ব্যয় ধরা হয়েছে ২ কোটি ৯২ লক্ষ টাকা। আগামী এক বছর এটি সংস্কারের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় অর্থও এতে ধরা হয়েছে।

এ দিন অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সর্বানন্দ সোনোয়াল বলেছেন, অহিংসা ও স্বচ্ছতা বিষয়ে গান্ধীজীর দর্শন শুধু আমাদের দেশেই গ্রহণযোগ্য তা নয়, দেশের বাইরেও সমানভাবে জনপ্রিয়। তিনি আরও বলেন, রাজ্যে এই বিশাল উচ্চতার জাতীয় পতাকা স্থাপনও গান্ধীজির জাতীয়তাবাদী ভাবধারায় উদ্বুদ্ধ হয়েই করা হয়েছে।

October 2: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal dedicated the country’s third tallest national flag to the state at a function held at Gandhi Mandap in Guwahati on Tuesday to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Ina release issued by the state government, it was stated that the 319.5 feet flag pole is the highest in the country with respect to the average elevation of the city. However, it is ranked third after the one at Attari border, which is 360 feet, and another at Pimpri Chinchwad Bhakti Shakti Chawk in Pune, which is 351-ft tall.

The work was awarded to M/s Bajaj Electricals Limited through competitive bidding and work started in April, 2018. The total project cost is Rs 2.92 crore which includes operations and maintenance for a period of one year, it said.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that Gandhiji’s philosophy on non-violence, swachhata (cleanliness), untouchability is still relevant not only in India but outside also. He further said that installing the tallest national flag in the state was motivated by Gandhiji’s principle of nationalism.
