Robin Hood Army pledges for a hunger-free Silchar, appeals for help
Sept. 28: The Robin Hood Army (RHA) is a volunteer-based, zero funds raised organization that works to get surplus food from restaurants and the community to serve less fortunate people. It was founded in 2014 by Neel Ghose, Arushi Batra and Anand Sinha. Right now, RHA is operating in 12 countries and in total 195 cities both in India and abroad. Volunteers of RHA are called Robins. There are 60000+ active Robins in the RHA family. Apart from focusing on food distribution, RHA has its own RHA Academy for teaching poor students. Currently, RHA is operating RHA Academy in 80 cities. RHA Silchar Chapter is a member of the RHA family.
The vision of RHA is to simply beat global hunger and bring out the best of humanity using food as a medium. In simple terms, our motto is “Serve the hungry citizen”.
RHA Silchar chapter is run by youths who hope to create a difference in their unique way. All we need is 2 hours week time from the willing persons at least a month to make a real impact. RHA Silchar chapter focuses on making Silchar as a hunger-free city. We are also launching RHA Academy at Silchar where we will teach poor students.
How can one contribute: RHA doesn’t accept money. They have grown through contributions in kind and partnership. An individual can be a ROBIN and can make Silchar a hunger-free town. Restaurants and hotel community can join RHA to serve less fortunate people by donating food as they wish. An individual can also volunteer at RHA Academy to teach poor students.
RHA is a zero fund based organization with no employees, office space, and insurance, hence cannot assume liability. Any personal risk is borne by the Robins individually.
