Nihar Thakur kept in unhygienic state, alleges son
August 9: There are often allegations made by many COVID-19 positive patients about the sorry state of affairs, especially at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Recently a college teacher himself along with other Covid patients cleaned the entire room including toilets at SMCH where they were given to stay, thereby setting an example. However, what seemed to be possible for a young man might not be possible for any octogenarian patient of coronavirus.
On Sunday, such an allegation of apathy was made by Nripendra Tagore, son of former Chairman of Silchar Municipal Board (SMB). Senior BJP leader and former Chairman of SMB, Niharendra Narayan Tagore (86) along with his wife and 9-year-old grandson were tested positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on 7 August, 2020, following which they were admitted at SMCH. They were accommodated in Cabin No. 12 of SMCH.
Nripendra Tagore, the son of the former Chairman in a Facebook post on 9 August alleged of apathy exhibited towards his old parents and his child at SMCH. He posted his allegation in Facebook while tagging the official Facebook Page of Cachar District Administration.
Nripendra Tagore alleged, “With regret, I would like to bring to your notice that the management (at SMCH) is super pathetic. The housekeeping people have not cleaned the washroom a single time since admission. It is in such an unhygenic state that they have not been able to take bath. They served spoil food on the first day which was not edible, so we are arranging food to be supplied from home.” Saying so, Mr. Tagore made an appeal to the district administration. He wrote, “Requesting you to kindly review and intervene.”
District administration Cachar in a Facebook Page on Saturday uploaded a video of 1.33 minutes wherein the caption read, “Some honest voluntary reviews on S M Dev Civil Hospital CCC. We thank our cooperating patients for all their support and medical team for their tireless efforts.” It is beneath this Facebook post that Mr. Nripendra Tagore made his comment about the condition of his parents in the Covid cabin at SMCH.
Now, if such be the condition of a senior leader of BJP who stepped down very recently as the Chairman of Silchar Municipal Board, then the condition of the common masses can very well be apprehended!
