New case of COVID-19 positive in Cachar, total now stands at 45
May 6: Increasing worry for the people of the district, 1 fresh case of COVID-19 was reported from Cachar on Wednesday night. Sharing this information, State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed this in a tweet at 9.30 PM on 6 May. As in Cachar, this is the 2nd case of coronavirus. The 1st patient from Cachar district was already discharged from Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Further, this also increased the total tally of Assam to 45 although at present there are only 10 active cases in the state.

Taking to his twitter handle, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Alert ~ One person from Cachar dist has tested positive for #COVID19. Total #COVID19 patients in Assam now stands at 45. Active cases 10, Discharged 34, Death 1.”
As per latest information, the patient is basically from Sonitpur district. The patient came from Rajasthan to Guwahati, but by mistake boarded the bus to Silchar. The bus reached in the morning and after random test, the patient was found to be positive. The patient is asymptomatic and is put under quarantine at NATRIP in Jhapirband.
