Biggest spike of 30 new +ve cases in Cachar on Thursday, day’s total 33
In last 7 days, 95 positive cases reported from Cachar
July 9: On Thursday evening, 3 new cases of COVID-19 were reported from Cachar. However, at around 7.30 PM, 30 more fresh cases were reported from various parts of the district. With this, till the filing of the report, Cachar recorded a total of 33 positive cases on Thursday, the biggest spike of the day, so far. All new 30 COVID-19 patients were asymptomatic.
The 30 patients who were tested positive in Cachar district as per the 2nd slot of swab results on 9 July are: Debashish Sharma (54) from Narshingpur was in contact with lab confirmed case, Dinesh Chandra Nath (80) from Narshingpur was also in contact with lab confirmed case and was tested through Assam Targeted Surveillance Program (ATSP). Pranesh Nath (45) too is from Narshingpur. He was also in contact with lab confirmed case and was tested through ATSP.
Bina Roy (45) and Sushanta Sinha (27), both from Dholai were also tested positive. They were tested through Assam Targeted Surveillance Program (ATSP).
Another person, Debashish Nath (35) from Narsingpur was also in contact with lab confirmed case and was tested through Assam Targeted Surveillance Program (ATSP). Two more persons from Narsingpur whose test results also came positive during the day are Sanjib Kanti nath (52) & Debangi Nath (34). They were also in contact with lab confirmed case. These 8 new cases are devoid of any travel history but have been detected through contact tracing and ATSP.
Apart from these 8 cases, there are 22 more positive cases in the 2nd slot of list given on Thursday. All of these 22 persons have got a travel history. They came from Bangalore.
These 22 Bangalore-returned persons, who were tested positive in Cachar are: Robizul Ali Mazumder (19) from Gonigram-I, Katigorah, Asit Kumar Singha (28) from Kabuganj, Imran Hussain (24) from Kelnea Pt-II, katigorah, Saha Alom (20) from Motinagar, Dina Chandra Singha (30) from kabuganj, Toibur Rohman (21) Labourputa in Katigorah, Abdul Sadir Mazumder (22) from Chandpur Pt-3, Saha Alom (28) from Sundori Pt-2, Kabul Hussain Ahmed (22) from Motinagar, Afzal Hussain Barbhuiya (20) from Tapang Pt-1, Abul kasim (21) from Motinagar, Azad Hussain (28) from Sundari Pt-2, Junaid Ahmed (19) from Suktola in Dholai, Sakir Ahmed Choudhury (20) from Didarpur Pt-III, Sahid Ahmed (18) from Punirmukh, Abdar hussain (21) from Motinagar, Ali Hussain (21) from Suktola in Dholai, Ali Ahmed (19) from Suktola in Dholai,Saharul Haque (22) from Tarapur in Sundor I-Pt II, Afsana begom (20) from Dholai Bazar, Arzin Aktar (6 months) from Dholai Bazar and Anup Kumar (27) from Kajidohar Pt-1 in Sonai.
The swab samples of all these 30 new positive persons were collected on 7 July. Their test reports came as positive on 9 July.
As per sources in the health department, it was revealed that in the last 7 days, 95 persons were tested as positive in Cachar district alone, out of which, 11 cases were reported from the community.
As per sources, there are probability of more positive cases, which may be reported later in the night.
District Media Expert Sumon Choudhury informed that they are exploring more places to convert into COVID hospitals. S.M. Dev Civil Hospital had 50 beds in the COVID ward, out of which, 40 patients have already been admitted. So the health department is now contemplating to convert Palonghat Model Hospital as COVID hospital. Mr. Choudhury informed that around 80 to 85 patients can be accommodated at Palonghat Model Hospital
