3 tests positive in Cachar on Thursday
At present, 170 active cases are undergoing treatment in Cachar
July 9: The number of corona infected persons is expanding everyday. In Cachar too, the numbers are rising, with fresh cases reported everyday. On Thursday afternoon, 3 more persons were reported to be COVID-19 positive from the district. They are a 6-year-old child of Das surname from Dulalgram, Cachar. He does not have any travel history, but is a case of Influenza Like Illness (ILI). This patient is reported to be symptomatic. The father of the child has been allowed to stay with him in the hospital.
Apart from this child, two other persons were infected with novel coronavirus from Cachar. They are Swantana Sinha, a 47-year old female from Bekirpar, Cachar. The patient is asymptomatic. She came in direct contact with a high risk patient of a lab confirmed case, Sukomol Sinha from the same area. Her swab sample was collected on 5 July and the report was served on 9 July.
The third positive patient from the district is a CRPF personnel. He has been identified as Manilal Bhahma (35) from Dalcheera, Cachar, CRPF Headquarters. He was in contact with COVID confirmed case a week ago. He too is asymptomatic.
Confirming this, District Media Expert Sumon Choudhury said that all three of them were admitted in SM Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar. However, there are chances that more positive cases in Cachar may be reported late in the evening or night.
Sumon Choudhury further informed that they are exploring more places to convert into COVID hospitals. S.M. Dev Civil Hospital had 50 beds in the COVID ward, out of which, 40 patients have already been admitted. So the health department is now contemplating to convert Palonghat Model Hospital as COVID hospital. Mr. Choudhury informed that around 80 to 85 patients can be accommodated at Palonghat Model Hospital
