Zero Boys Group appeals to Goddess Kali to save people from financial trap
October 27: When human beings fail to find solution of any problem, they usually resort to seek divine blessings. During religious festivals, often such type of depiction can be seen. Pandals are decorated on the basis of current issues or problems faced by the society. That is why now-a-days, puja pandals are made on the basis of a theme. Such a unique attempt was made by Zero Boys Group, Silchar.
When it comes to Kali Puja, the pandal of Zero Boys Group deserves special mention as it attracts a lot of people, primarily to see and admire the creativity. Since its very inception in the year 1978, those associated with this puja has tried to offer something new for the people. Ofcourse, when the puja was started in 1978, the name of the club was ‘Shakti Sangha’. Later on, it was renamed as ‘Zero Boys Group’ in the year 1988. However, before shifting to its present place, the puja was earlier held in 2 other spots. This was informed by Tamal Kanti Banik, one of the active members of the Group.
This year ‘Zero Boys Group’ has come up with the theme of passive financial burden or modern day financial traps laid by credit cards, schemes and offers launched by various financial companies, banks and brands. People became easily lured to these multifarious schemes and fall in the debt trap. A debt trap is a situation in which a borrower is led into a cycle of re-borrowing, or rolling over, their loan payments because they are unable to afford the scheduled payments on the principal of a loan. These traps are usually caused by high-interest rates and short terms.
This is a burning social issue and ‘Zero Boys Group’ has tried to depict this as their theme in their Kali Puja pandal. President of the Kali Puja Committee of ‘Zero Boys Group’, Sujit Paul while speaking to way2barak said, “The trap of passive financial burden is a social evil and many lives are lost due to this. The brain of human beings is as if confined by these so-called lucrative offers. People often commit suicide unable to repay the debt. So we have decided to make this as our Puja theme this year.” It needs mention here that the puja pandal of ‘Zero Boys Group’ was conceived, designed and executed by Sujit Paul himself. Not only this year, but Mr. Paul is the main force behind designing the pandals of this group for the last many years.
Pritam Roy, Secretary of the puja committee said that the unique bond among the members of ‘Zero Boys Group’ enable themselves to organise this puja every year. He said, “Every year, we try to do something different and something new. We keep ourselves alive to social issues and design our pandal likewise. Mahaprasad will be distributed on Monday afternoon and I solicit the presence of all. I have received active support and cooperation from all the members of our group including our 2 treasurers Tupur Chanda and Sumit Das. Our pandal will remain open for the next 2 days for the people to view.”
