YASE writes to CM Assam on closure of K.K.Handiqui study centre & depriving Barak Valley of B.Ed course
June 21: In an important development, Assam government for the first time has approved the introduction of integrated Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) courses in 68 colleges around the state. However, no colleges from the Barak Valley – Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi featured in the said list. This has led to great resentment among the people of this valley.
In the same memorandum, YASE also raised the issue of withdrawing the study centre of K.K.Handiqui (KKHSOU) Study Centre from Cachar College, Silchar. They expressed surprise to the fact that on one hand when KKHSOU sent a ‘Goodwill Mission’ to the Study Centre at Cachar College and expressed satisfaction that the centre was going on well, then how on the other hand, they could abruptly decide to close the said centre. They highlighted that many students of Cachar who are unable to pursue regular course of studies due to various reasons used to study at KKHSOU. It is in this backdrop that YASE appealed for the intervention of the Chief Minister that the Cachar College centre of KKHSOU be started afresh after due cleansing of corruption, if any.
