YASE stands besides tea garden worker ‘wrongly evicted’ from his land, appeals to DC Cachar for justice
November 21: Youths Against Social Evils (YASE) stood besides one of its member Subhas Ruhidas who has been allegedly evicted ‘illegally’ from his land. In this connection, YASE submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar and sought her intervention appealing justice for the ‘victim.’
In the memorandum addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, it was stated that Subhas Ruhidas, a resident of Motinagar Bazar under Sonai Revenue Circle is a tea garden worker of Bhuban Valley Tea Estate. Subhas was served a notice to vacate his land bearing Dag No. 265 (chatak) by the Circle Officer of Sonai. However, YASE claimed that Subhas Ruhidas is a resident of Dag No.333 (under Didarkush Grant) and not a resident of Dag No,265.
It was then alleged that the authority evicted Subhas Ruhidas from the land under Dag No.333 instead of Dag No.265 and that too without any notice. This has resulted in untold sufferings by Subhas Ruhidas. The signatory of the memorandum, Sanjeev Roy, President of YASE while speaking to way2barak said, “Subhas Ruhidas approached with a petition to the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar on 14 March, 2019, but till now no action has been initiated. That is why, today we have submitted this memorandum wherein we have requested DC Cachar to order an enquiry into the matter so that this poor man can get justice.”
In the absence of the Deputy Commissioner, the memorandum was handed over to A.R.Majumder, ADC Cachar. Apart from Sanjeeb Roy, the YASE delegation comprised of Dinesh Kahar, Subhas Ruhidas, Fagun Ruhidas and others.
