Weightlifter, Vikas Thakur wins Silver Medal at Commonwealth Games 2022
Aug. 2: Indian weightlifter Vikas Thakur bagged a silver medal in the men’s 96-kg final at CWG 2022 after lifting a total of 346 kg. The 28-year-old lifted 155 kg in snatch and 191 kg in clean and jerk. India have now won as many as eight medals in weightlifting at CWG 2022, including three gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has congratulated weightlifter, Vikas Thakur for winning Silver Medal at Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said; “More glory at the CWG, this time due to Vikas Thakur, who wins a Silver in Weightlifting. Delighted by his success. His dedication to sports is commendable. Wishing him the very best for upcoming endeavours.”
