Wall Magazine on ‘Women Empowerment’ inaugurated at Radhamadhab College
November 29: The empowerment and autonomy of women and the improvement of their political, social, economic and health status is a highly important end in itself. In addition, it is essential for the achievement of sustainable development. Education is one of the most important means of empowering women with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence necessary to participate fully in the development process. These were the words uttered by Dr. Ashima Roy, Head, Department of Political Science of Radhamadhab College, Silchar during the inauguration of the 4th Issue of ‘Vanguard’, the wall magazine of the department.
This 4th issue of ‘Vanguard’ is based on the theme ‘Women Empowerment.’ It was formally inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Dr. Pronoy Ranjan Deb. Speaking during the occasion, Dr. Deb said “Women constitute half power of the country so in order to make this country a fully powerful country, women empowerment is very necessary. Empowering women is to make them independent in all aspects from mind, thought, rights, decisions, etc.”
Dr. P.K. Sinha, Associate Professor and former HOD of Political Science highlighted the importance of wall magazines in educational institutions. He said that it is a very vital tool for the students to express their views on a gamut of issues.
Dr. Jashobanta Roy, Vice Principal of the college expressed special thanks to the Department of Political Science to take up such endeavour. Dr. Roy said “The real meaning of the women empowerment is to make them well educated and leave them free so that they can be capable to take their own decisions in any field.”
Dr. Ashima Roy expressed special thanks to the students, colleagues of her department, teaching fraternity of RMC, the Principal for their whole-hearted support in this endeavour. Apart from Dr. Roy and Dr. Sinha, the other two faculty members of Political Science, Prof. Jiban Das, Dr. Bidhan Barman along with teachers of other departments were also present during the occasion.
