Vivekananda Jr. College shines bright, bags 1st & 9th position in HS Commerce
বাণিজ্যে প্রথম ও নবম স্থান বিবেকানন্দ জুনিয়র কলেজে
বাণিজ্য বিভাগে এ বার প্রথম হয়েছে শিলচরের বিবেকানন্দ জুনিয়র কলেজের ছাত্র অসীম সরকার। তার প্রাপ্ত নম্বর ৪৭৪। এর আগে এই কলেজের কেউ শীর্ষস্থান দখল করেনি।
মাধ্যমিকে ৮৫ শতাংশ নম্বর পেয়েছিল অসীম সরকার ও বৃন্দা রায়। তা তাদের খুশি করতে পারেনি। জেদ চাপে উচ্চ মাধ্যমিকে কিছু করে দেখাতে হবে। আর তার সেই জেদ ও মেধাকে কাজে লাগান বিবেকানন্দ জুনিয়র কলেজের শিক্ষকরা। অসীম-বৃন্দা দুজনই জানান, ‘দফায় দফায় পরীক্ষা নিয়েছেন শিক্ষকরা। বলতে গেলে, একেবারে লেগে ছিলেন আমাদের সঙ্গে।’
সকলের প্রত্যাশা বেড়ে যাওয়ায় চাপে ছিল অসীমও। শুক্রবার রাতে ঘুমোতে পারেনি। সকালে উঠেই ঢুকে পড়ে ন্যাশনাল হাইওয়ে ড. শ্যামাপ্রসাদ মুখার্জি রোড স্থিত বাড়ির মনসামন্দিরে। স্থাপিত মূর্তির পূজা সেরে বেরিয়েই প্রথম হওয়ার খবরটা শোনে। তাঁর কথায়,’ তালিকায় থাকব নিশ্চিত ছিলাম। তাই বলে প্রথম, এতটা ভাবিনি।’
কী করে তা সম্ভব হলো? অসীম পুরো কৃতিত্ব দেয় কলেজ শিক্ষকদের। সঙ্গে জুড়ে দেয় বাবা ফিজিওথেরাপিস্ট অমিত সরকার, মা গৃহবধূ পূর্ণিমা সরকারের কথা। তাঁরা দুজনই অবশ্য বিষয়টিকে ‘মা মনসার দয়া’ বলে মন্তব্য করেন। ভবিষ্যত পরিকল্পনায় সাদাসিধে জবাব অসীমের। বিবেকানন্দ জুনিয়র কলেজেই বিকম পড়বে। পরে এমকম পাশ করে শিক্ষকতা করতে চায় সে।
কলেজের শিক্ষকদের কথা বলল নবম স্থানাধিকারী বৃন্দা রায়ও। পাশাপাশি বলে বাবা-মার কথা। তার বাবা দেবাশিস রায় বেসরকারি কোম্পানিতে চাকরি করেন। মা নন্দিতা রায় গৃহবধূ। তার ইচ্ছে, ব্যাঙ্ক অফিসার হবে।
অসীম-বৃন্দার সাফল্যে অত্যন্ত খুশি কলেজের সমস্ত শিক্ষক-অশিক্ষক কর্মচারীরা। খুশি অধ্যক্ষ রণধীর দাসও। স্কুলের কর্ণধার মেমোরিয়াল ট্রাস্টের সচিব পিনাক পাল বলেন, ভালো লাগছে, মাধ্যমিকের মেধা তালিকায় বরাক উপত্যকার কেউ স্থান পায়নি। উচ্চ মাধ্যমিকে সেই হতাশাকে কাটিয়ে দিয়েছে এরা।
Vivekananda Junior College, Silchar bagged another position in HS commerce. Brinda Roy of the same college stood 9th and also got 5 letters in English, Bengali, Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies. Brinda got 455 marks and scored 91 percentage.
Both Ashim Sarkar and Brinda Roy were seen in a jubilant mood. The students and teachers of the college expressed happiness at the success achieved by these two students. Ashim and Brinda expressed heartfelt thanks to their teachers, parents and their college for their spectacular success.
Speaking to way2barak, Ashim said, “I am greatful to the teachers of this institution for guiding me in doing such a good result.” Similar views were also expressed by Brinda. She said, “My teachers are the main strength and I dedicate my success to them.”
The overall performance of Vivekananda Junior College, especially in the science stream was indeed praiseworthy. A total of 199 students appeared in the HS (Commerce) examination and all of them have passed. Out of 199 students, 111 got first division, 82 got second division and 06 passed in third division. A total of 31 students of Vivekananda got star marks.
Further, the students of the Commerce stream of Vivekananda College secured 227 letters. The subject wise break up of letter marks is:

- MIL Bengali: 22
- Alternative English: 103
- Accountancy: 31
- Business Studies: 25
- Economics: 16
- Commercial Mathematics & Statistics: 06
In the commerce stream, a total of 17,797 candidates appeared for the examination and 15,589 cleared their examination. 3,796 candidates scored first division, 5,303 scored second division and 3,490 scored third division marks. Out of 17,797 students, 8,443 were males and 3081 were females.
The pass percentage among the male candidates stands at 89.46 and female at 93 per cent. A total of 2,360 male candidates and 706 female candidates appeared for the HS examination from private institutions. On the other hand, 810 male candidates and 190 female candidates appeared from non-private institutions.
