নতুনত্বের চমক নিয়ে এবারও সার্থক পুজো দক্ষিন বিলপারে

২২ অক্টোবর : বিগ বাজেটের পুজো সব সময়ই সাধারণ মানুষকে আকর্ষণ করে। এ বছরও দর্শনার্থীদের টানতে নতুনত্ব নিয়ে হাজির ছিল পুজো কমিটিগুলো। তবে শিলচর শহরের কেন্দ্রস্থলে থাকা দক্ষিণ বিলপার দুর্গাপূজা কমিটি অন্য বছরের মতো এ বারও মণ্ডপ ও প্রতিমাসজ্জায় নতুনত্ব আনতে বেশ কিছু নতুন আঙ্গিকের সমাহার ঘটিয়েছিল। বিশেষ করে এলাকার মহিলাদের পুরোমাত্রায় অংশগ্রহণ এই আয়োজনে বাড়তি পাওনা। তাদের ভক্তি, একাত্মতা ও পুজোর সঙ্গে দিনরাত জুড়ে থাকা দক্ষিণ বিলপার পুজো কমিটিকে সত্যিই অনেকটা এগিয়ে দিয়েছে, যা দর্শনার্থীদের নজর এড়ায়নি।

বর্তমান একুশ শতকে যৌথ পরিবার খুব কমই দেখা যায়। এর পেছনে কারণও রয়েছে, আর তা হচ্ছে সম্পর্কের টানাপোড়েন। এ দিক দিয়ে দেখতে গেলে এই পুজোয় চারটি প্রজন্মের একসঙ্গে অংশ নেওয়া এবং ঘটা করে দুর্গোৎসব পালন করা সত্যিই সবাইকে অবাক করে দিয়েছে।

তার ওপর গত দু’বছর থেকে এলাকার প্রতিটি বাড়ির মহিলা ও মেয়েদের সক্রিয়ভাবে অংশগ্রহণ উল্লেখের দাবি রাখে। কখনও বাড়ির মহিলাদের দেখা গেছে, তাদের স্বামীর সঙ্গে মিলে বিভিন্ন কাজে নিজেকে যুক্ত রেখেছেন।

জনৈক গৃহকর্ত্রী রেখা বণিক বলেন, ‘পুজোয় যুক্ত থাকার অনুভূতিটা সত্যিই অন্যরকম। বিভিন্ন ধরনের কাজে জড়ির থাকতে আমাদের নিজেদেরই খুব ভালো লাগে।’ একই কথা বলেছেন মৌমিতা গুপ্ত, মৌসুমী দাস, মুক্তা দাস, পায়েল বিশ্বাস, সোমা সাহা এবং অন্যরা। মুক্তা রায় প্রতিবছরই কলকাতা থেকে দক্ষিণ বিলপারের পুজোয় অংশ নিতে আসেন। এই পুজোর প্রতি এদের মনের টান একে আরও অনন্য করে তুলেছে।

মহা পঞ্চমীর দিনে দক্ষিণ বিলপার দুর্গাপূজা কমিটির মণ্ডপ উদ্বোধন করেন রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের দুই সন্ন্যাসী। মন্ডপ উদ্বোধনের পরই মিশনের মহারাজরা দেবী দুর্গার সামনে আরতি করেন। উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে এই এলাকার মহিলারা এক সাংস্কৃতিক পর্বের আয়োজনও করেছিলেন। অষ্টমীতে এই মণ্ডপে কুমারী পূজা হয়েছে। দেবী দুর্গার আরাধনায় কুমারী পূজাকে এক বিশেষ মাধ্যম হিসেবে গণ্য করা হয়। এই কুমারী পূজা জাতি ও বর্ণের ঊর্ধ্বে উঠে একটি ছোট মেয়েকে দেবীজ্ঞানে পূজা করা হয়।

বিশ্বাস অনুযায়ী, বিভিন্ন শ্রেণি থেকে আসা কুমারীরা বিভিন্ন বৈশিষ্ট্য নিয়ে হাজির হয়। মেরু তন্ত্রে আমরা দেখি যে, সমস্ত দেবতা ব্রাহ্মণ কুমারের অর্চনার মধ্য দিয়ে তুষ্ট হয়েছেন। ক্ষত্রিয় কোনও কুমারীকে পুজো করা হয় খ্যাতি ও যশের জন্য, বৈশ্য কুমারী পূজায় সম্পদ লাভ হয় এবং শূদ্র কুমারী সন্তানের সঙ্গে সম্পর্কিত।

পাড়ার মহিলাদের দেখা যায় কুমারী পূজা আয়োজনে বিশেষভাবে ব্যস্ত। বিকেলের দিকে ভক্তরা অষ্টমী ভোগের জন্য সমবেত হন। তাছাড়া অষ্টমীর সন্ধ্যায় আরতি অনুষ্ঠানও সবার নজর কাড়ে। ঢাক ঢোলের তালে তালে ধুনুচি নৃত্য সত্যিই অন্যরকম পরিবেশের সৃষ্টি করে।

অষ্টমীতে এছাড়াও ছিল সন্ধি পূজার আয়োজন। অষ্টমী ও নবমীর সন্ধিক্ষণে এই পুজো হয়। মূলত অষ্টমী তিথির শেষ ২৪ মিনিট ও নবমী তিথির প্রথম ২৪ মিনিট ধরে চলে সন্ধিপূজা। এই পুজোর সময় ১০৮টি প্রদীপ প্রজ্জ্বলন করা হয়। পুজোয় ১০৮টি পদ্ম এবং সমসংখ্যক বেল দেবীকে দেওয়ার রেওয়াজও রয়েছে।

পঞ্চমীর সন্ধ্যা থেকেই পাবলিক স্কুল রোডে বিভিন্ন ধরনের সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান ছিল পুজোর বাড়তি পাওনা। পুজোর সম্পাদক তথা যুব ব্রিগেডের সদস্য তমাল চক্রবর্তী শুরু থেকেই ছিলেন তৎপর। পুজোর চাঁদা তোলাই হোক বা পুরোহিতকে সহায়তা বা ধুনুচি নৃত্য, সবক্ষেত্রেই তাকে সক্রিয় দেখা গেছে।

দক্ষিণ বিলপার দুর্গাপূজা কমিটির এ বছরের পুজো হয়েছে মুখ্য উপদেষ্টা বিধানচন্দ্র রায়ের তত্ত্বাবধানে। পুজো কমিটির সভাপতি ছিলেন নিখিলেন্দু কর পুরকায়স্থ এবং দু’জন সহ-সভাপতি হলেন প্রমোদ কর্মকার ও সব্যসাচী রায়। তিনজন সম্পাদক যথাক্রমে তমাল চক্রবর্তী, বিনয় সাহা ও শুভঙ্কর দেব। কোষাধ্যক্ষের দায়িত্বে ছিলেন বীরেশ্বর ভট্টাচার্য ও পার্থ বিশ্বাস। সাংস্কৃতিক দিকটি দেখেছেন অরিজিৎ দাস ও কৌস্তুভ ভট্টাচার্য। পুজোর আচার অনুষ্ঠান পালনের দিকে খেয়াল রেখেছেন চন্দন রায়।

বিজয়া দশমীর দিনও পুজো মণ্ডপে এক নান্দনিক পরিবেশের সৃষ্টি হয়েছিল। বিবাহিত মহিলারা একে অন্যকে সিঁদুর লাগিয়ে চিরাচরিত পদ্ধতিতে উৎসব পালন করেন। প্রথা অনুযায়ী এ বার বিজয়া দশমীর দিন পুজো কমিটির প্রতিমা বিসর্জন হয়নি। ফলে প্রতিমা নিয়ে শোভাযাত্রা বের হয় পরদিন অর্থাৎ শনিবার।

এই শোভাযাত্রায় সামিল হন শিশু থেকে বৃদ্ধ পর্যন্ত প্রায় ৩০০ জন এলাকাবাসী। এভাবেই শারদ উৎসবের সমাপ্তি হয়, যদিও এলাকার প্রতিটি মানুষ অপেক্ষায় রয়েছেন আগামী বছরের এই আনন্দঘন দিনগুলোর জন্য।

October 21: Well, it was a splendid Durga Puja this year for a large section of the populace. But for Dakkhin Bilpar Durga Puja Committee, it was yet another year of carrying on experimentation with the pattern of idols or materials to be used in the pandal or how to involve every housewife in puja activities and so on and so forth. True to their devotion and dedication, Dakhhin Bilpar Durga Puja Committee, most famous as Public School Road Puja, presented before the visitors a never to be forgotten landscape.

In the 21^st century, it is very difficult to find the prevalence of joint family system. The reason is obvious, and it is clash of interest. Judging from this viewpoint, it is indeed a matter of utter surprise to see atleast 4 generations participating together and celebrating Durgoutsav. However, a most populist endeavour was adopted 2 years ago, when the girls and women from every household were involved in various activities of Durga Puja. This step really gave a new meaning to this puja. The female team sometimes seems to surpass their male counterpart in arranging different activities.

Rekha Banik, a housewife said, “It is really a wonderful feeling to be associated with the puja. We feel happy to involve ourselves in various activities.” Similar views were aired by Moumita Gupta, Mousumi Das, Mukta Das, Payel Biswas, Soma Saha and others. Mukta Roy travels religiously from Kolkata every year to attend the puja at Dakkhin Bilpar.

The pandal of Dakkhin Bilpar Durga Puja Committee was inaugurated on the day of Maha Panchami by two monks of Ramakrishna mission, Silchar. This was followed by ‘aarti’ of Goddess Durga by the Maharaj of the Mission. Cultural programme by the ladies of the locality was the special attraction of the inaugural programme.

On the day of Maha Asthami, ‘Kumari Puja’ was held. Kumari puja is one of the best mediums to please Ma Durga; it is said that the goddess is most happy when kumaris or maidens are venerated. Little girls irrespective of caste or creed are worshiped in the sense of offering prayers to the divine goddess.

It is a belief that kumaris of different classes possess different significance. In Meru Tantra, we find that all the gods are pleased by the worship of a Brahmin kumara; worshipping a Kshatriya kumari provides fame and prosperity; a Vaishya kumari provides wealth while Shudra kumari is related with progeny.

The ladies of the locality were seen to be busy in arranging all items necessary for Kumari Puja. In afternoon, devotees gathered for special ‘Ashtami Bhog’. The evening of Durga Ashtami was a sight to behold. One highlight is of course the grand Aarti, which was accompanied with frenzied beats of dhol with special dhunuchi dance (dancing with earthen pots in which lay flared coconut husks).

Another high point of Ashtami was the Sandhi Puja. This particular puja was performed in an auspicious time called the Sandhi time. The auspicious time often falls in the last 24 minutes of Ashtami or first 24 minutes of Navami. Women and children prepared for the puja hours in advance. 108 earthen lamps were lit during the Sandhi time as a ritual to invoke the blessings of the goddess. The goddess was also offered 108 lotus flowers and bilwa leaves.

Starting from Panchami, various cultural programmes were held. The young and enthusiastic Secretary Tamal Chakraborty played a multifarious role during the puja. Starting from collection of subscription to assisting the priest to dhunuchi dance, he was everywhere.

Durga Puja 2018 of Dakkhin Bilpar Durga Puja Committee worked under the able guidance of its Chief Advisor Bidhan Chandra Roy. The president of the Puja Committee was Nikhilendu Kar Purkayastha while the Vice President was Promod Karmakar and Sabyasachi Roy. There were three Secretaries, who are Tamal Chakraborty, Binoy Saha and Subhankar Deb. Bireshwar Bhattachrjee and Partha Biswas shared the responsibility of Treasurer. The cultural section was shouldered by Arijit Das and Kaustav Bhattacharjee. The Puja rituals were taken care of by Chandan Roy.

Devotees’ thronged Puja mandaps to celebrate Bijoya Dashami by reciting the mantras and offering Pushpanjali (flowers to the goddess Durga) and praying for her blessings. Married Hindu women were seen putting vermilion [sindur] on each other’s forehead on the occasion. This is a part of the last celebration before the goddess is taken for immersion.  However, the immersion of Durga idol by Dakkhin Bilpar Durga Puja Committee took place on Saturday.

Elaborate arrangements were made for  idol immersion. The immersion procession was attended by around 300 persons of the locality including kids, girls and housewives.

It was the end of a festival, a festival marked by joy, which would provide them source of happiness all throughout the year till the next Durga Puja in 2019.
