ULFAs threat to Bengalis is inciting racism: Banga Sahitya told CM

৩০ অক্টোবরঃ রাজ্যবাসীদের উপর লাগাতার আক্রমণ চলছে, এই অভিযোগ করে তা প্রতিহত করার জন্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সর্বানন্দ সোনোয়ালের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করল বরাক উপত্যকা বঙ্গ সাহিত্য ও সংস্কৃতি সম্মেলন। এখনই এ ব্যাপারে পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা না হলে পরিস্থিতির অবনতি ঘটবে বলে তাঁরা তাঁকে সতর্ক করে দেন। মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর কাছে স্মারকপত্র পাঠিয়ে বঙ্গ সাহিত্যের কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির সভাপতি সৌরীন্দ্র ভট্টাচার্য বলেন, এককালে যারা রাষ্ট্রদ্রোহিতায় লিপ্ত ছিল, আজও যাদের অবস্থান স্পষ্ট নয়, তাদের সন্ত্রাসবাদী মানসিকতার শিকার অসমের বাঙালিরা। অথচ ইতিহাস সাক্ষী, তাঁদের আনুগত্য, বর্ধিষ্ণু অসম গড়ার ক্ষেত্রে তাঁর অবদান প্রশ্নাতীত।

পরিতাপের সঙ্গে সৌরীন্দ্রবাবু উল্লেখ করেন, বারবার অগ্নিপরীক্ষা দেওয়ার পরও অসমের বাঙালিদের নাগরিকত্ব, ভারতীয়ত্ব প্রশ্নের মুখে। বিদেশি তকমা লাগিয়ে তাদের জন্য শরশয্যা বিছানো হয়। এতে ঘৃতাহূতি দিচ্ছে. বিচ্ছিন্নতাকামী ও আঞ্চলিকতাবাদে বিশ্বাসী কিছু সংগঠন। বাঙালিদের উদ্দেশে শাসানিমূলক মন্তব্য যে জাতিবিদ্বেষকে উসকে দিচ্ছে, সে ব্যাপারে চোখকান খোলা রাখতে বঙ্গ সাহিত্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে পরামর্শ দেয়। তাঁদের কথায়, রাজ্যে শান্তি-সম্প্রীতি বজায় রাখতে এই ব্যাপারে জরুরি ততপরতায় কঠিন পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা উচিত।

শানকে ডেকে এনে গুয়াহাটিতে আয়োজিত সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানে যে দুর্ব্যবহার করা হল বঙ্গ সাহিত্য এরও নিন্দা জানায়। এই ঘটনাকে জাতিবিদ্বেষমূলক আগ্রাসী মনোভাবের প্রতিফলন বলেই তাঁরা মনে করছেন। মৈত্রী, সহাবস্থান যে একতরফা হতে পারে না, সে কথা উল্লেখ করে সভাপতি সৌরীন্দ্রবাবু বলেন,বাঙালিদের ন্যায়সঙ্গত অধিকার হরণের যে পরিকল্পিত প্রয়াস চলছে, সেইসঙ্গে যে অসহিষ্ণুতার বাতাবরণ বিরাজ করছে, তাতে মৈত্রীর বার্তা কতটুকু আন্তরিক, এই বিষয়টি সুচিন্তিতভাবে বিশ্লেষণ করে বরাক উপত্যকা সহ অসমের বাঙালিদের পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা উচিত।

October 30: The Bengalis of Assam are constantly attacked, their very existence is at threat. This was alleged by Barak Upottoka Banga Sahittyo O Sanskriti Sammelan and urged upon Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to look into the matter with all seriousness. The cautioned the Chief Minister (CM) that if due attention is not paid to this matter now, then the condition will deteriorate further. Sending the memorandum to the CM, Dr. Sourindra Bhattacharjee, President of the central committee of Banga Sahitya said that those who were terrorists at one point of time, whose position is still not cleared; they are involved in exhibiting mentality of terrorism against the Bengalis. He further went on to question the role of ULFA in the development of the state.

Dr. Bhattacharjee said with anguish that the Bengalis of Assam have been called for to give testimony of their citizenship time and again. Bengalis are affixed the label of ‘foreigners’ and are made to lie in the pyre of humiliation and harassment. Moreover, those with regional and parochial mentality pour oil upon that pyre and make the lives of the Bengalis burn with misery. Banga Sahitya further requested the CM to be vigilant so that the derogatory remarks are not made against the Bengalis. They further said that Assam government should adopt appropriate steps to maintain peace and tranquility in the state.

Banga Sahitya further criticized the unruly and aggressive gesture exhibited by the people at Guwhati towards renowned singer Shaan during a concert at Guwahati. They severely criticized such type of racist mentality. Friendship and brotherhood are terms which require active collaboration between two parties. Dr. Sourindra Bhattacharjee said, “You cannot shake hands with only one hand.” The message of peace and brotherhood often preached by Brahmaputra towards Barak in the backdrop of an atmosphere of intolerance cannot be believed by the Bengalis residing in Assam.
