Udharbond’s Bikram Kairi, IAS becomes DC of Majuli, Hindi Sahitya Samiti felicitates him
September 26: Barak Hindi Sahitya Samiti organised a felicitation ceremony in honour of Bikram Kairi who was recently promoted to the post of Deputy Commissioner of Majuli. A formal programme in this connection was held at Silchar Hindi Bhavan on Thursday. Bikram Kairi hails from Majhargram, a remote tea garden at Udharbond in Cachar district. He qualified the UPSC Civil Service Examination and got the most coveted cadre of IAS in 2014.
The felicitation programme was presided over by Kunjo Bihari Goala in presence of Mahavir Prasad Jain, Bansilal Bhatti, Parameshwar Lal Kabra, Dr. Ranjan Singh, Sanjeev Roy, Madan Singhal, Pradip Kurmi, Kanchan Singh, Geeta Pandey, Dilip Singh, Kamal Sarda and others.
Different organisations like Akhil Assam Bhojpuri Parishad, Cachar Marwari Yuva Manch, Adarsh Bhakt Mandal, Barak Valley Rabidas Unnayan Sangstha, Jain Samiti and others felicitated Bikram Kairi. Speaking during the occasion, all expressed the view that Bikram has made the face of Barak Valley bright by his hard work and brilliance.
Sanjeev Roy said, “Bikram Kairi hails from an ordinary family whose father works in the postal department. He, was a student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Pailapool. He has set an example for the youth of this valley by cracking IAS.” Before being posted as the Deputy Commissioner of Majuli, Bikram worked in several positions like Assistant Secretary of Ministry of HRD, Sub-Divisional Officer Civil in Margherita, Deputy Secretary-Department of Labour and Director Tea in Department of Trade and Commerce. He is now posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tinsukia from where he will be joining as the Deputy Commissioner in Majuli, the constituency from which Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal became MLA.
In his speech, Bikram Kairi thanked all for showering immense love and honour upon him. He urged all to come forward to help the poor but meritorious students, especially those belonging to the Tea Garden community of Barak Valley who still has not received the light of education in a proper way. He assured to help in all possible ways so that youth from this valley are able to crack the civil service examination.
