Two Commissioners of Karimganj expelled from Congress for betrayal

১০ সেপ্টেম্বর : গত বৃহস্পতিবার করিমগঞ্জ পুরসভার আস্থাভোটে কংগ্রেসকে হারিয়ে জয় ছিনিয়ে নিয়েছে বিজেপি। কিন্তু এই আস্থাভোটে দলের সঙ্গে বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা করার অভিযোগে আজ দু’জন পুর কমিশনারকে দল থেকে বহিষ্কার করেছেন জেলা কংগ্রেস সভাপতি সতু রায়। করিমগঞ্জ পুরসভার ১ নং ওয়ার্ডের কমিশনার বিশ্বজিত দাস ও ২৭ নং ওয়ার্ডের কমিশনার পারমিতা রায়কে আগামী ৬ বছরের জন্য দল থেকে বহিষ্কার করা হয়েছে। একইসঙ্গে জেলা কংগ্রেস সম্পাদক মনোজ রায়কেও দল থেকে বহিষ্কার করা হয়েছে। মনোজ রায় বহিষ্কৃত কমিশনার পারমিতা রায়ের স্বামী।

পরে জেলা সভাপতি সতু রায় বলেন, এই দুই কমিশনারের জন্য দল লজ্জার সম্মুখীন হয়েছে। দলের হারের জন্যও এরা দায়ী। এ ব্যাপারে প্রদেশ নেতৃত্বের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করা হয়েছিল। তাঁদের পরামর্শেই এই দু’জনকে দল থেকে বহিষ্কার করা হয়েছে।

September 10: On last Thursday, BJP defetated the Congress in the no-confidence motion of the Municipal Board. But two Ward Commissioners were expelled from the party by the District Congress President Satu Roy for betraying during the no-confidence motion. Biswajit Das, Ward Commissioner of Ward No. 1 and Paromita Roy of Ward No.27 were expelled from the party for 6 years. Along with them Manoj Roy, Secretary of Karimganj District Congress was also expelled from the party. Manoj Roy is the husband of the expelled Ward Commissioner Paromita Roy.

Later on speaking to newspersons, Congress District President Satu Roy told that the party has faced embarresment due to the anti-party activities of these two Ward Commissioners. They are also responsible for the defeat of the party. He further said that the decision to expel them has been taken after consultation with the State Congress.
