Truck full of consignment of recycled waste made in Silchar sent for sale
October 3: The ‘garbage to gold’ project launched at Silchar on 13 July, 2019 has become a success. The first consignment of recycled waste made out of Swachh Sundor Silchar pilot project for Solid Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) was sold off at a price of Rs 15,000 to a vendor on Thursday. A truck was loaded with the products which was flagged off by Project Director C Srinavasan, Deputy Speaker Aminul Haque Laskar, MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy, MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, Laya Madduri-Deputy Commissioner, Cachar in presence of host of people.
The Solid and Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) is in progress under the guidance of its Project Director, C Srinavasan. Dr Rajdeep Roy, had already donated Rs 7 lakh from his MP LAD fund for making this project viable. Deputy Speaker Aminul Haque also assured to pay Rs 2 lakh for this purpose.
However, Silchar MP Dr. Roy expressed displeasure at some media reports where it was pointed out that Silchar ranked very low in terms of cleanliness.
