For requirement of medicine by anybody in Cachar, just dial ‘104’: Media Expert

April 23: The ongoing lockdown has been problematic for a large number of people and for other patients in general. Many patients who require medicines for their ailment are finding it tough to manage the same. The problem is much more grave for those who stays in the remote places and even for those elderly whose wards stay in far off places. People of Cachar district are also facing similar problems.

During the routine press briefing, Media Expert of Cachar, Sumon Choudhury shared the view that there are reports from Cachar district also where people are facing inconvience due to non-availability of medicine during the ongoing lockdown. He informed that the administration has taken a step in this regard. He said, “If anyone requires any medicine or if any medicine is not available, just give a call to ‘104’. We will try our best to deliver the medicine at the door step.”

He further went on to say that there are some medicines available in the hospitals drug list. If the medicines asked for by the people are there in the drug list of the hospital then the same will be delivered from the stock of the hospital. He, however, clarified that the brand name of the medicine may be different, but the generic name may be same. So the health department will provide home delivery of the medicine.

Sumon Choudhury said, “If the medicine asked for is avaiable within the district, then we will deliver it on that very day. But if the medicine is not available locally, then we will make arrangement for procuring it from Guwahati. In that case, we may require a time of 48 hours or so. Also, if any medicine is not there in the emergency drug list of our hospital, then we need to purchase it from outside. In that case, we will tie up with some private pharmacies and procure medicines from them.”

So in short, for requirement of medicine of the people of Ccahar district, just dial ‘104’, who in turn will inform the health department, who will then collect the prescription from the patient through WhatsApp or by any other means and then make arrangement to deliver the same at the home of the patient.
