Toilets of hotels including 5-stars & restaurants in Guwahati can now be used by public for free

July 25: Guwahati Municipal Corporation(GMC) in a bid to stop public urination in Guwahati and maintain the hygiene and sanitation facilities, took a very path breaking decision. The GMC Commissioner, Debeshwar Malakar declared that every toilet in a hotel, restaurant in Guwahati are now public toilets and can be used by anyone without ordering food or paying for the same.

GMC Commissioner, Debeshwar Malakar further stated that if any hotel, restaurant or shopping mall authority refuses to provide the service, then heavy penalties would be levied. It was further notified that the new norms are levied on 5-star hotels of the city also.

The latest norms issued by the GMC would allow safe and convenient urination and defecation.
