To combat COVID-19, Parimal orders Excise Department to supply 5 lakh litres hand sanitisers
March 28: Coronavirus cases are rising in India by leaps and bounds. Amidst the outbreak, there is shortage of hand sanitisers in the market. Over and above, some scrupulous elements are selling hand sanitisers at an exorbitant price. As a measure of respite, State Excise Minister Parimal Sukalabaidya has has directed five companies to produce 1 crore hand sanitizers of 200 ML each to be sold at government-fixed prices. The companies will have to produce the item following the guidelines set by WHO and also the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940.
Minister Suklabaidya along with the Excise Commissioner have taken this decision as a major supporting step to provide Hand Santizers to the Assam Health Department. The sanitizers will be prepared at the state liquor producing units. The main objective of this production of Sanitizers is to curb the menace of fake santizers in the market. The Excise Department has also taken steps to supply santitizers to neighboring Manipur and Nagaland.
