Theatre workshop organised by Lalit Jain College in collaboration with National School of Drama
March 24: When the whole world is overpowered by technological innovations, cultural boundaries has also also became very fluid. Inhabitants of the globalised era have have divorced themselves from the creative liberal arts like that of drama and theater. However, amidst such rapid changes, there are some organisations and individuals who are relentlessly striving to restore the traditional cultural heritage. One such endeavour has been taken in hand by Lalit Jain Commerce College, Silchar.
National School of Drama (TIE wing), an autonomous institute of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, Tripura center in collaboration with Lalit Jain Commerce college, Silchar is organising a Three Days theater in educational workshop for adult on acting for creativity on 24, 25 and 26 of March,2019.
Rahul Dasgupta, Secretary Noya Group Meherpur , Silchar has taken the initiative to motivate the students of Lalit Jain Commerce College for gathering the knowledge so that the upcoming generation can indulge in theatre. The objective of this workshop is to train in acting skills and develop inter-cultural learning. It focuses also towards the development of life-skills, like self awareness and problem solving and to make participants feel about the working process. A number of students are participating in this workshop with full enthusiasm to explore this new arena.
National School of Drama (or NSD) is a theatre training institute situated at New Delhi, India. It is an autonomous organization under Ministry of Culture, Government of India. It was set up in 1959 by the Sangeet Natak Akademi and became an independent school in 1975. In 2005 it was granted deemed university status, but in 2011 it was revoked on the institute’s request. Today, the Repertory Company, has staged over 120 plays based on the works of about 70 playwrights and featuring around 50 directors in several countries, and various cities across the nation, and has its own festival every year, called Annual Repertory Company Summer Festival, in which it perform new and past plays.
Speaking to way2barak, Anupriya Deb, who teaches English at Lalit Jain Commerce College said, “We are optimistic in the sense that such workshops will definitely inculcate among the students an artistic temperament and help them in the long run to churn out their hidden talents.” She further thanked the Principal of the College for inspiring them to undertake such workshops.
