Religion does not mean temple, mosque or church, says Swami Sumanasananda

২৮ নভেম্বর : নিয়মিত মন্দির, গির্জা ও মসজিদে যাওয়া মানেই ধর্ম নয়। ধর্মীয় আচার অনুষ্ঠান যেমন, ঘন্টাধ্বনি, প্রদীপ প্রজ্জ্বলন বা উপবাস, এসবই হল শস্যের শাসের মতো, যা বাহ্যিক বিষয়, তবে শাসটুকু কিন্তু ভেতরেই থাকে। ধর্ম হলো দেবত্বের প্রকাশ যা প্রতিটি মানুষের মধ্যেই রয়েছে। প্রকৃত ধর্ম পাশবিক চিন্তাধারা থেকে প্রকৃত মানুষ হয়ে ওঠার যাত্রা।

মঙ্গলবার শিলচরে লায়ন্স ক্লাব অব শিলচর ভিশনের যুব শাখা লিও ক্লাব অব শিলচরের উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত এক বক্তৃতা অনুষ্ঠানে এ কথাগুলো বলেন রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের সন্ন্যাসী স্বামী সুমনাশানন্দজি মহারাজ।

স্বামী বিবেকানন্দের ঐতিহাসিক চিকাগো বক্তৃতার ১২৫ বছর পূর্তি উপলক্ষে ‘স্বামী বিবেকানন্দ : সব যুব নেতাদের চিরকালীন অনুপ্রেরণার উৎস’ শীর্ষক এই বক্তৃতা অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়েছিল। এই বক্তৃতা অনুষ্ঠানে মুখ্য বক্তা হিসেবে ভাষণ দেন দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকার ডারবান রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের সভাপতি স্বামী সুমনাশানন্দজি মহারাজ। ডারবানে এই রামকৃষ্ণ কেন্দ্রের প্রতিষ্ঠা হয় ১৯৪২ সালে। তবে এখানে রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের শাখা খোলা হয় ২০০৭ সালের মার্চে। স্বামী সুমনাশানন্দজি মহারাজ মিশনের অধ্যক্ষ রয়েছেন ২০১৫ সালের জুলাই থেকে।

রামকৃষ্ণের ভাবশিষ্য স্বামী বিবেকানন্দ ১৮৯৩ সালের ১১ সেপ্টেম্বর চিকাগোতে বিশ্ব ধর্ম মহা সম্মেলনে প্রথম বক্তব্য রেখেছিলেন। তাঁর এই ভাষণ বিশ্বের পাশ্চাত্য দেশগুলোকে সম্মোহিত করে এবং পশ্চিমের দেশগুলোতে প্রথমবারের মতো প্রাচ্যের ধর্ম ও দর্শনের দুয়ার খুলে যায়। এদিন স্বামী সুমনাশানন্দজি সহজবোধ্য ভাষায় চিন্তাধারা ও ভাবনার ওপর আলোকপাত করেন।

তিনি এ দিন তাঁর ভাষণে নেতাজি সুভাষ চন্দ্র বসু ও বর্তমান প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদির কথা উল্লেখ করেন। এই দু’জনই রামকৃষ্ণ ধারায় সন্ন্যাসী হওয়ার ইচ্ছে প্রকাশ করেছিলেন। স্বামী সুমনাশানন্দজি বলেন, বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে বিশ্বের নেতারা স্বামী বিবেকানন্দকে অনুসরণ করে জীবনে সাফল্য পেয়েছেন। রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরকে ঊদৃত করে তিনি বলেন, স্বামী বিবেকানন্দের মধ্যে সবকিছুই ছিল ইতিবাচক, নেতিবাচক কিছুই ছিল না। যুবাদের উদ্দেশ্য করে তিনি বলেন, স্বামীজি দেশের যুবকদেরও অনুপ্রেরণার উৎস ছিলেন। দেশকে আরও উচ্চতায় নিয়ে যেতে তিনি যুবকদের প্রতি আহবান জানান।

বক্তব্যের শেষে তিনি এক প্রশ্নোত্তর পর্বের আলাপচারিতায় অংশ নেন। অকৃতকার্য একজনের প্রশ্নের জবাবে কিছুটা নিরুতসাহিত হয়ে তিনি বলেন, ‘অতীতে তুমি অকৃতকার্য হয়েছ, কারণ সর্বোচ্চ স্তরে গিয়ে তুমি তোমার ক্ষমতার ব্যবহার করোনি। অকৃতকার্যতা আমাদের শিখিয়ে দেয়, কী করা উচিত নয়। আমরা যদি সর্বোচ্চ স্তরে গিয়ে চেষ্টা করি, তাহলে সাফল্য ধরা দেবেই।‘

November 28: ‘Dharma’ does not mean to be a regular visitor to the temple, church or mosque. Performing rituals like ringing the bells or lighting candles or fasting are just like the husks of grain which covers it, the real grain lies inside. Religion is the manifestation of divinity which is already in man. True religion is a journey from brute to a good human being. These were the words uttered by Swami Sumanasananda, monk of the Ramakrishna Order during a lecture programme organised by Leo Club of Silchar Vision, the youth wing of Lions Club of Silchar Vision at Silchar on Tuesday.

The lecture programme was organised to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago Address and was titled “Swami Vivekananda: The Perennial Source of Inspiration to all Young Leaders.” The lecture was delivered by Swami Sumanasananda, the President of the Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa, Durban. The Centre in Durban was founded in 1942 and was made a branch of Ramakrishna Mission in March 2007. Swami Sumanasananda is its President since July 2015.

On 11th September 1893 Swami Vivekananda, the disciple of Sri Ramakrishna  delivered his first speech in the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago.His lecture mesmerised the western world and opened the door of Eastern religion and philosophy for the West. Swami Sumanasananda in lucid way spoke on the thoughts put forward by Swami Vivekananda.

He also mentioned about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose who wanted to become monks of the Ramakrishna order. Swami Sumanasananda said that world leaders in various fields has become successful taking inspiration from Vivekananda. He quoted Rabindranath Tagore who said “In Swami Vivekananda, everything is positive and nothing negative.” As regards youth, he said that Swami Vivekananda was a perennial source of inspiration for the youth. Swami Sumanasananda urged upon the youth to steer the nation to new heights.

His speech was followed by a question-answer session. In response to a question of getting demoralised by failure, Swami Sumanasananda said “You have failed in the past because you have not used your potential to its optimum level. Failures should teach us lesson what not to do. The moment we put in our best, success is bound to kiss our feet.”
