Teams formed to enforce COVID-19 related precautionary rules in Silchar Municipal area

May 14: Silchar Municipal Board has now come up with some strong measures in order to implement the precautionary measures to contain the further spread of coronavirus. On 13 May, Executive Officer of Silchar Municipal Board (SMB), Sumit Sattavan issued an order wherein four teams were constituted. Each team comprises of two office staff. These teams were assigned areas where they were directed to keep a strict vigil on maintenance of COVID-19 precautionary measures.

The teams were directed to visit the respective market areas and impose penalties for violation of already declared safety norms. Abhilas Baranwal, Assistting Officer of SMB informed that the teams would take photographs of those shops, where rules are violated. Further, the on duty staff were directed to collect fines from the shop owners who violates the COVID•19 norms under the jurisdiction of SMB with immediate effect. The quantum of fine may increase depending upon the nature of violation of norms. The staff entrusted with the work were directed to proceed for the said collection of fines in addition to their normal duties.

Team ‘A’ was asked to monitor Fatak Bazar and Goldighi Municipal Market. New Market and Janata Mini Market areas were entrusted to Team ‘B’. Team ‘C’ will look after Tarapur Market, Itkhola Refugee stall, Ukil Bazar, Lakshmi Narayan Road and Annapurna Ghat whereas Team ‘D’ were assigned the areas of Satsang Nagar Market, College Road Market, Central Road Market and NRDI Hall.
