“Swiss Films on Wheels” gets warm response at Silchar
December 7: Jookto in association with the Embassy of Switzerland, New Delhi organised a day of film shows “Swiss Films on Wheels” for citizens of Silchar. The two films were screened at Gandhi Bhavan, Silchar on 7 December 2018 from 10am to 5pm. The two films “Heidi” and “My Life as a Zucchini”, released in 2015 and 2016 respectively, spread a message of friendship, understanding and inclusiveness. Audience comprising mainly of children enjoyed the films.
Welcoming the team from Swiss Embassy and the participants, Shri Subimal Bhattacharjee, Founder Director Jookto said that he was happy that the Switzerland Embassy came to Silchar. He regarded this as a new beginning of a cultural exchange between Barak Valley and Switzerland. He said that Jookto would approach more foreign missions in Delhi to involve Barak Valley in their cultural engagements.
Anuradha Sahane, Protocol Officer from Swiss Embassy in Delhi said that she was very happy with the response from Silchar and thanked Jookto for the effort. She also expressed her happiness for the warm welcome of her team at Silchar. She further said “To celebrate 70 Years of Swiss-Indian Friendship 2017-2018 (SIF70), a Swiss-Indian friendship bus is traveling throughout India with two of the most charming children’s films from Switzerland on board.” She further said that in order to engage Barak Valley with the rest of the country and abroad, the screenings have been organised at Silchar.
Students from schools like Don Bosco, KV NIT Silchar and Saint Capitiano participated in large numbers to make this event a success. The students along with their teachers have praised the movies as the movies spread the message of love and friendship. They have also expressed their eagerness to see more events like this.
