Students of Class IX and X in Assam to get free uniforms
January 25: This is for the first time that the students of Assam studying in Class IX and X will be given two sets of free school uniforms by the state government. The State government has decided to procure uniform for students from Class I-VIII through School Managing Committees. While the cost of the uniform for Class I-VIII will be Rs 300 per set, it will Rs 350 per set for the students of Class IX-X.
Speaking to newsmen in Guwahati on Saturday, Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “For the first time in the history of Assam education, students of Class IX and X will get two pairs of free uniforms which will be provided from the State Budget. The requirements provided by the School Managing Committee will be subjected to rigorous quality checking at school and district level.”

An amount of Rs 449 crore will be released for the same to the School Managing Committees. The entire process will be monitored by a Quality Management team and comprehensive guidelines will be issued by the SSA.
