২১ নভেম্বর : সন্ধ্যারাতে শিলচর তারাপুরে এক সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় দুই মহিলা গুরুতর জখম হয়েছেন। একটি অটোরিকশা ও একটি বলেরোর মধ্যে সংঘর্ষের ফলে দুর্ঘটনাটি ঘটে। ঘটনার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে উত্তেজিত জনতা বলেরো গাড়িটি ভাঙচুরে উদ্যত হলে পুলিশের হস্তক্ষেপে পরিস্থিতি বেশিদূর গড়ায়নি। বলেরোর চালক জনতার রোষ থেকে বাঁচতে তারাপুর থানায় গিয়ে আত্মসমর্পণ করেন।

প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানান, এলাকার বাসিন্দা জনৈক মহিলা রেশমা খান তাঁর বাড়ির পাশেই রাস্তার ধারে বসেছিলেন। তাঁর পাশেই একটি অটোরিকশা পার্কিং করে রাখা ছিল। তখনই রেল স্টেশনের দিক থেকে দ্রুতগতিতে একটি বলেরো এসে অটোরিকশাটিকে সজোরে ধাক্কা দেয়। এতে অটোরিকশাটি উলটে গিয়ে ওই মহিলার উপর পড়ে। তাঁর পা মারাত্মক জখম হয়। এ দিকে, রাস্তা দিয়ে পাড়ারই মিনু দাস দোকানে যাচ্ছিলেন। গাড়ির ধাক্কায় তিনিও জখম হন।

জনৈক প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী জানান, আহতদের হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যাবার জন্য ১০৮ অ্যাম্বুলেন্স ডেকেও পাওয়া যায়নি। পরে অগ্নি নির্বাপক বাহিনীর গাড়ি দিয়ে তাদের মেডিক্যালে পাঠানো হয়। দুর্ঘটনায় রাস্তার পাশে পার্কিং করে রাখা দুটি মোটরবাইক সামান্য ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে। পাশের একটি দোকানের সামগ্রীও নষ্ট হয়েছে। পুলিশ দুর্ঘটনাগ্রস্ত গাড়ি দুটি আটক করে থানায় নিয়ে গেছে।

November 21: Two ladies were injured in a street accident at Tarapur on Wednesday evening. The accident occurred as a result of a collision between a Bolero and an auto-rickshaw. An excited mob tried to break the Bolero, but timely intervention by the police prevented the occurrence of much chaos. The driver of the Bolero somehow escaped from the clutches of the angry mob and surrendered at Tarapur Police Out Post.

Eye witnesses revealed that one Reshmi Khan of the locality was sitting outside her house. Just at that moment a Bloero came from towards Silchar Railway Station and hit a parked auto with such a force that the auto fell upon the lady and her leg was severely injured.Another lady Minu Das was on her way to the nearby shop when the auto turned over. She was also injured.

An eyewitness said inspite of dialing 108, it did not turn up. A fire vehicle was then arranged which took the two ladies to Silchar Medical College & Hospital.Two motorcycles parked near the road were partially damaged in the accident. Commodities of a nearby shop were also broken. Police has taken the Bolero and the auto-rickshaw in their custody.
