Sonowal holds video conference with DCs and SPs, instructs to enforce lockdown
March 23: To review the situation in the state arising out of Covid 19 outbreak, Assam Chief Minister Sarbanadna Sonowal on Monday held a video conference (VC) with the Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police and Joint Director of Health Services of the state. The CM instructed them to implement complete adherence to lockdown declared by the government.
Sonowal advised them to closely monitor the system in place to make all the essential commodities available to the public. He also asked them to keep a watch on the traders so that there is ‘no hoarding’ of essential items. He also emphasized that the golden protocol to check the transmission of this virus is the observance of ‘social distancing’ and ‘avoidance of all kinds of social gathering’.

In order to tackle the spread of coronavirus in the state, Assam government has declared complete LOCKDOWN in the state from 6 PM of 24 March, 2020 till 31 March, 2020. During the lockdown all people shall have to compulsorily remain indoors during the lockdown. For the 1st breach of lockdown, there will be imprisonment for 6 months. But for breach of lockdown for the 2nd time, imprisonment of 2 months will be imposed. Police will arrest anybody on roads after 6 PM of 24 March, baring those who are out for purchasing only groceries and medicine.
