ওয়ে টু বরাক, ৬ ফেব্রুয়ারি : বরাক উপত্যকার প্রাকৃতিক ঐতিহ্য ও লোকসংস্কৃতিকে জাতীয় স্তরে তুলে ধরার লক্ষ্যে ৭ ফেব্রুয়ারি, শনিবার শ্রীভূমি জেলার আনন্দপুরে আয়োজিত হতে চলেছে ‘শনবিল উৎসব ২.০’। এই উৎসবকে ঘিরে আনন্দপুরে পর্যটন, সংস্কৃতি ও পরিবেশ সচেতনতার এক অনন্য মেলবন্ধন তৈরি হয়েছে। ইতিমধ্যে যাবতীয় প্রস্তুতিপর্ব চূড়ান্ত। উৎসবের আনন্দে ভাসছে পুরো আনন্দপুর।

এদিন সকালে উৎসবের আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন করবেন প্রধান অতিথি ভারতীয় বিমানবাহিনীর অবসরপ্রাপ্ত এয়ার চিফ মার্শাল অরূপ রাহা। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত থাকবেন আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ ও হোজাইর রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক মানবেন্দ্র দত্তচৌধুরী। এছাড়াও উপস্থিত থাকবেন আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রেজিস্ট্রার ড. প্রদোষ কিরণ নাথ ও রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের একাডেমিক রেজিস্ট্রার ড. সন্দীপ রত্ন সহ বিশিষ্ট শিক্ষাবিদ ও অন্য প্রশাসনিক আধিকারিকরা।

প্রসঙ্গত, উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতের অন্যতম বৃহৎ জলাভূমি শনবিলকে জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যটন মানচিত্রে তুলে ধরার উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। ২০২৪ সালে প্রথম শনবিল উৎসব আয়োজনের পর এ বছর এই উৎসবে শামিল হয়েছে হোজাইর রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ও। আর্থিক সহায়তায় এগিয়ে এসেছে নর্থ ইস্টার্ন কাউন্সিল ও ডোনার মন্ত্রক। এদিন উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানের পর দিনভর চলবে লোকনৃত্য ও লোকসংগীত প্রতিযোগিতা, সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান, গ্রন্থ প্রকাশ, পুরস্কার বিতরণী ও আমন্ত্রিত শিল্পীদের পরিবেশনা। এতে অংশ নেবেন আমন্ত্রিত ও স্থানীয় শিল্পীরা।

আয়োজক কমিটির সংযোজক অধ্যাপক অরুণজ্যোতি নাথ জানিয়েছেন, এই উৎসব মূলত শনবিলের প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য, জীববৈচিত্র্য, নৌজীবন, লোকসংস্কৃতি ও গ্রামীণ জীবনধারাকে পর্যটকদের সামনে তুলে ধরারই এক প্রয়াস। শনবিল উৎসব ২.০’ শুধু একটি সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান নয়, বরং প্রকৃতি, ঐতিহ্য ও পর্যটন বিকাশের এক সম্মিলিত উদ্যোগ। এই উৎসবের মাধ্যমে শনবিল বরাক উপত্যকার একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পর্যটন হাব হিসেবে গড়ে উঠতে পারে, যা রাজ্যের অর্থনৈতিক বিকাশেও উল্লেখযোগ্য ভূমিকা নেবে। ফলে স্থানীয় কর্মসংস্থান বৃদ্ধি ও ইকো-ট্যুরিজমের নতুন সম্ভাবনার দ্বার খুলবে বলে আশা করা হচ্ছে।

Way2barak, February 6 : With the objective of showcasing the natural heritage and folk culture of the Barak Valley at the national level, Son Beel Utsav 2.0 is set to be held on Saturday, February 7, at Anandapur in Sribhumi district. The festival has created a unique confluence of tourism, culture, and environmental awareness in Anandapur. All preparations have been finalized, and the entire area is abuzz with festive enthusiasm.

The festival will be formally inaugurated in the morning by the Chief Guest, former Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha. Distinguished guests will include the Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, and the Vice Chancellor of Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai, Prof. Manabendra Dutta Choudhury. Also present on the occasion will be Assam University Registrar Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath, Academic Registrar of Rabindranath Tagore University Dr. Sandip Ratna, along with eminent academicians and senior administrative officials.

Notably, Assam University has taken an initiative to place Son beel—one of the largest wetlands in Northeast India—on the national and international tourism map. Following the successful organization of the first Son beel Utsav in 2024, Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai, has joined as a partner in this year’s edition. The festival is being financially supported by the North Eastern Council (NEC) and the Ministry of DONER.

After the inaugural ceremony, the festival will feature a full day of folk dance and folk music competitions, cultural programmes, book releases, prize distribution ceremonies, and performances by invited artists. Both local and guest artists will take part in the celebrations.

Program Co-ordinator, Prof. Arunjyoti Nath, stated that the festival is primarily an effort to present the natural beauty, biodiversity, wetland-based livelihood, folk culture, and rural lifestyle of Son beel to tourists. Son beel Festival 2.0 is not merely a cultural event but a collective initiative aimed at promoting nature, heritage, and tourism development. Through this festival, Son beel has the potential to emerge as a major tourism hub of the Barak Valley, contributing significantly to the state’s economic growth. It is expected to generate local employment opportunities and open new avenues for eco-tourism.
