Sivasagar along with 4 archaeological sites to be developed as iconic sites

February 1: Five archaeological sites will be devolved as iconic sites with onsite museums. These are- Rakhigari in Harayana, Hastinapur in UP, Sibsagar in Assam, Dholavira in Gujarat, Adichanallur in Tamil Nadu. This was announced by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during her budget speech on Saturday.

A tribal museum will be set up in Ranchi, Jharkhand. . A maritime museum will be set up in Lothal. A Numismatics and Trade Museum will also be located in the historic Old Mint Building in Kolkata. The FM also announced renovation and re-curation of four more museums across India.

Nirmala Sitharaman proposed the setting up of an Indian Institute of Heritage and Conservation with the status of a deemed university under the Ministry of Culture. Rs 3,150 crore has been allocated for the Ministry of Culture and Rs 2,500 crore for the Ministry of Tourism.
