কালিকা নিজেই এক প্রতিষ্ঠান, নরসিং প্রাক্তনীর অনুষ্ঠানে বললেন কবীন্দ্র
Silchar pays befitting tribute to Kalika on his birthday

এক বিশাল কর্মকাণ্ড। গ্রাম বাংলার মেঠো পথ ধরে এক বিশাল যাত্রা। এই যাত্রায় যেমন রয়েছে গ্রামীণ লোকগানের সুর, তেমনি রয়েছে লোকাচার, মাটির গন্ধ। মাটির মানুষ, মনের মানুষ সেই কালিকা প্রসাদ ভট্টাচার্যকে স্মরণ করলো শিলচরের নরসিং স্কুল প্রাক্তনী সংস্থা। মঙ্গলবার ১১ সেপ্টেম্বর ছিল কালিকা প্রসাদ ভট্টাচার্যের জন্মদিন।

এ দিন শিলচর বঙ্গভবনে তাঁকে স্মরণ করতে নানা অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করেছিল সংস্থা। মোট ৫টি পর্যায়ে অনুষ্ঠানকে ভাগ করা হয়েছিল। আর এই নানা স্বাদের অনুষ্ঠানমালাই প্রমাণ করেছে কালিকা শুধু গায়ক বা বাদক ছিলেন না, সত্যি করে বললে কালিকা নিজেই ছিলেন একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান। যে প্রতিষ্ঠানে ঢুঁ মেরে একজন শিল্পী তাঁর সঙ্গীত জীবনটাই কাটিয়ে দিতে পারেন।

তাইতো এ দিন অনুষ্ঠানে এসে কালিকা সম্পর্কে বলতে গিয়ে প্রাক্তন কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রী কবীন্দ্র পুরকায়স্থ তাঁকে একটি প্রতিষ্ঠানের সঙ্গে তুলনা করেন। তিনি বলেন, কালিকা প্রসাদের গান, গান নিয়ে তাঁর গবেষণা ও জানার পরিধি সম্পূর্ণ একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান।

অনুষ্ঠানের উদ্দেশ্য ব্যাখ্যা করতে গিয়ে সংস্থার কর্মকর্তা আইনজীবী দুলাল মিত্র বললেন, কালিকা প্রসাদের মতো প্রতিভাবান শিল্পী নরসিং স্কুলের প্রাক্তনী, এটি বিদ্যালয়ের বর্তমান ও প্রাক্তন প্রত্যেক পড়ুয়ার কাছে গর্বের এক অধ্যায়। শুরুতেই তিনি আশাপ্রকাশ করেছিলেন যে, সবার সহযোগিতায় অনুষ্ঠান সফল হবে। সত্যিকার অর্থেই তাঁর আশা বাস্তব রূপ পেয়েছে।

স্কুলের প্রাক্তনী সংস্থার সভাপতি বিজয়কৃষ্ণ নাথ কালিকা সম্পর্কে অনেক কথাই বললেন। তাঁকে মাটির মানুষ আখ্যা দিয়ে তিনি বলেছেন, মাটির রূপ, রস, গন্ধকে লোকগানের সুরে তিনি মানুষের কাছে পৌছে দিতে পেরেছেন। নির্মলেন্দু চৌধুরীর পর খুব কম সময়ে কালিকা তাঁর প্রতিভার জোরে পূর্ব বাংলা ও পশ্চিম বাংলার মানুষের মনে ঠাঁই করে নিতে সক্ষম হয়েছেন। তিনি সব সময়ই সাধারণ মানুষের মনে অম্লান হয়ে থাকবেন।
বিশিষ্ট প্রাবন্ধিক সঞ্জীব দেবলস্কর কালিকা প্রসাদের গান নিয়ে বলেছেন, প্রতি ক্ষেত্রেই এক গবেষণামূলক দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি ছিল তাঁর। বাউল, লালন, ঝুমুর ইত্যাদি সবক্ষেত্রেই প্রসাদের অবাধ বিচরণ ছিল। সঠিক অর্থেই গানের জগতে এক দিশা দেখিয়ে গেছেন তিনি।

সহপাঠী ডাঃ রাজীব করের বক্তব্যে উঠে আসে কালিকা প্রসাদের কলেজ জীবনের কিছু টুকরো স্মৃতি। গণসঙ্গীতের মধ্য দিয়ে কীভাবে আন্দোলন পরিচালনা করা যায় তা দেখিয়ে দিয়েছেন কালিকা প্রসাদ, বলেন রাজীব।

এ দিন অনুষ্ঠানে শেখর দেবরায়, শুদ্ধসত্য চৌধুরী প্রমুখ কালিকা প্রসাদের স্মৃতিচারণ করেন।

পরে ছিল কালিকা প্রসাদকে নিয়ে বিভিন্ন অনুষ্ঠান। তাঁর রবীন্দ্র প্রেম, সৃজনশীলতা, তাঁর লোকগান ও লোকসঙ্গীত নিয়ে গবেষণা, গণসঙ্গীত ইত্যাদি একাধিক পর্যায়ের অনুষ্ঠান সবাই বিশেষভাবে উপভোগ করেন। দ্বিতীয় পর্যায়ে ছিল ‘সৃজনশীল কালিকাপ্রসাদ’ শীর্ষক একটি অনুষ্ঠান। মূলত কালিকাপ্রসাদের সৃষ্টি নিয়ে এটি এক আয়োজন। এর পাশাপাশি ‘গণশিল্পী কালিকাপ্রসাদ’ নামে আরও একটি অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে সংস্থা। কলেজ জীবনে কালিকাপ্রসাদ প্রতিবাদ কর্মসূচির অধীনে যেসব গান লিখেছিলেন, এই অনুষ্ঠানে সেগুলিই তুলে ধরা হয়েছে। ডাঃ রাজীব কর এই পর্যায়ের শুরুতে তাঁর সম্পর্কে সবাইকে জানিয়েছেন। চতুর্থ পর্যায়ে ছিল ‘লোকসংগীতে কালিকাপ্রসাদ’ শীর্ষক একটি অনুষ্ঠান। এই পর্যায়ে জনপ্রিয় ধামাইল ও চড়ক নৃত্য তুলে ধরা হয়েছে। এই অনুষ্ঠান যখন চলছিল, তখন মঞ্চের পাশে চিত্রশিল্পী সুজিত পাল তৈরি করেছেন কালিকার একটি পোট্রেট।

এছাড়া সমবেত আবৃত্তিতে অংশ নেন অমিত সিকিদার, মনোজ দেব, পম্পি চক্রবর্তী, শিবম দাস এবং সমর বিজয় চক্রবর্তী। এইসব অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্যেও সৌমিত্র শংকর চৌধুরীর পরিচালনায় ড্যান্সার সার্কল তাদের প্রিয় শিল্পীকে একটি উপস্থাপনার মধ্য দিয়ে শ্রদ্ধার্ঘ নিবেদন করে। ‘নতুন সূর্য’ শীর্ষক এই অনুষ্ঠানে নতুন প্রজন্মের ওপর কালিকা প্রসাদের অনুপ্রেরণার দিকটি প্রদর্শিত হয়েছে। এতে রবি ঠাকুরের গান ‘আমি নতুন করে পাব বলে’, ‘ওরা অকারণে চঞ্চল’ ইত্যাদি গান সন্নিবিষ্ট হয়েছে। এতে অংশগ্রহণকারী শিশুশিল্পী শ্রেয়ান, সৃজন, বাবুসোনা, জনি এবং নেলসনের পারফরম্যান্স প্রশংসিত হয়েছে। একেবারে শেষে ছিল কালিকাপ্রসাদের ওপর একটি তথ্যচিত্র প্রদর্শন। আর এভাবে বহুমুখী প্রতিভার অধিকারী কালিকা প্রসাদ ভট্টাচার্যের জন্মদিন পালন সত্যিকার অর্থেই গর্বিত করেছে নরসিং স্কুলের প্রাক্তনীদের।

কিন্তু এই পুরো আয়োজনের মধ্যেও একটা করুণ সুর সবার মনেই বেজে উঠেছে। যে সুর তাঁকে হারানোর, মাটির মানুষ, একান্ত আপনজনকে কাছে না পাওয়ার ব্যাথা। এই ব্যাথা আর কোনওদিনই উপশম হবার নয়। এই ব্যাথা নিয়েই তাঁকে মনে রাখবে গানের জগত, তাঁর উত্তরসূরিরা, নরসিং স্কুলের প্রাক্তনীরাও।

September 12: Kalika Prasad Bhattacharjee is a household name not only at Silchar or Barak Valley where he was born and brought up, but also in West Bengal, Bangladesh and the larger Bengali diaspora. Prasad as he was popularly called by his kith and kin was born on September 11, 1970. However, fate cut short his journey of life when he met with a road accident near Gurap village in Hooghly district on 7 March 2017, at the age of 47.

What can be more befitting tribute to a legend, but to celebrate his birthday by his fellow alumni? After his death in 2017, Narsing H.S. School Alumni Association celebrated his birthday in a befitting manner for the 1st time on 11 September 2017. It was a musical tribute organized in honour of an artist who lived and died for music. Narsing Higher Secondary School, Silchar can definitely boast to produce such a student who has earned international accolade. This year too, the Alumni Association of Narsing School  geared up to celebrate his birthday.

On Wednesday, Narsing School Alumni Association organized a musical tribute to commemorate the birthday of the late artist Kalika Prasad Bhattacharjee. The programme was designed in such a manner that the various facets of his life could be unfolded before his admirers.

He was a Rabindra lover, a creative genius, a folk artist and what not. It is indeed difficult to portray Kalika in a single frame. Yet, the efforts of the Alumni Association were successful in depicting on the stage the different creative stages through which he evolved himself to the stature of an international artist.

Commenting on his quality, former Union Minister Kabindra Purkayastha termed him as an institution by himself. Keeping in tune with the multiple wings of Kalika, the programme was also divided into certain segments, which first included ‘Rabindranuragi Kalika Prasad’. This started with a clipping of the famous interview of Kalika with Ranjan Mukherjee, entitled “Amar Rabindranath”. This was followed by an analysis of this interview by an erudite personality, Sabjib Deb Laskar. Various dance items based on Tagore’s work were also performed.

The 2^nd phase was based on “Srijonshil Kalika Prasad”. The creative aspect of Kalika was highlighted in this category. This was followed by “Gano Shilpi Kalika Prasad.” Some of the unique protest songs of Kalika written by him in his college days were performed during this session. Dr. Rajib Kar gave a befitting introduction of this phase of Kalika’s life.

The 4^th category was named as “Loko Sangeet er Kalika Prasad.” Popular ‘dhamail’ and ‘charak dance’ were showcased in this session. Meanwhile, noted artist Sujit Paul drew a potrait of Kalika when these musical performances were going on.

The chorus recitation by Amit Sikidar, Monoj Deb, Pompy Chakraborty, Shibom Das, Samar Bijoy Chakraborty enthralled the audience.

Among others, another praiseworthy performance was presented by the ‘Dancers circle” which was directed by Saumitra Choudhury.

The performance entitled ‘Notun Jonmo’ was conceived to portray Kalika’s influence upon the new generation. They performed to the songs of Tagore ‘Ami notun kore pabo bole harai bare bare’ and ‘Ora okarine chonchol.’ The performance by the child artists Sreyon, Srijon, Babusona, Joni & Nelson was highly appreciated by the audience.

The programme came to an end with visuals of Kalika Prasad performing in different shows. An alumnus of the stature of Kalika Prasad Bhattacharjee has definitely elevated the status of Narsing School, the educational institution of which he was once a student. The aesthetic performances weaved like a beautiful garland was perhaps the greatest achievement of the Narsing School Alumni Association for they were successful in reincarnating Kalika and presenting him before the audience, when the legend himself has gone miles away from us.
