Silchar Nagar Samiti of Seemanta Chetana Mancha-Purvottar constituted with Debotosh as President & Gour Bijoy as GS

December 9: A 15-member new committee “Silchar Nagar Samiti” of Seemanta Chetana Mancha-Purvottar was constituted with Dr. Debotosh Chakraborty as the President and Gour Bijoy Goswami as General Secretary. The other office bearers are Jhumna Chakraborty as Vice President and Partha Das as Treasurer. Abhijit Roy and Biswabijoy Bhattacharjee were selected as member among others.

The members of the new committee took oath on Sunday in the premises of Sreepally Development Committee, Link Road, Silchar. The occasion was also graced by Kanad Purkayastha, Sandhya Acharjee, Dulal Das, Rupak Bhattacharjee, Shibu Paul Choudury, Anindita Das, Debasish Chakraborty, Rabin Bhattacharjee and others. At the onset, Ratnadip Paul, District Secretary of the organisation apprised the audience about the vision and mission of the organisation.

In his speech, Ratnadip Paul Choudhury said, “The main mission of Seemanta Chetana Mancha-Purvottar is to work towards attainment of the organisation’s ‘vision’ by promoting patriotism & nationalism among the people of our country in general and the international border areas in particular through organising various plans, programmes, meetings, seminars, symposiums, exhibitions, activities, sports, village-meetings, charities, services, etc. with “Vyakti Nirman to Rashtra Nirman” and work in an integrated way with the security agencies, Government administrations and the society for border security, national security, self reliance, all round development and unity among the people of our great motherland Bharat.”

Addressing the gathering, the newly elected President of Silchar Nagar Samiti, Dr. Debotosh Chakraborty said, “The Samiti organise, perform or celebrate five fixed public programmes every year : Foundation Day, Raksha Bandhan (World Brotherhood Day), Shakti Pujan on Vijaya Dashami, Birth Anniversary of a locally celebrated ‘Mahapurush’ and ‘Bharat Maata Pujan’ on 26th January.” Apart from these, the Samiti also organises and perform certain activities on regular basis, such as, sports and physical-health discussion events, weekly village level meeting of the elderly to create awareness,  free coaching or educational training, health check up or medical health camp etc.

The partition of 1947 resulted in 15106.7 kilometers of new International Borders. On 31 March 1985, in the city of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Seemanta Chetana Mancha was established on the day of Ram Navami, foreseeing the need to protect the borders of the country by the people with the tools of education, empowerment, unity and awareness spread among the communities residing in these border areas.

Based on these ideals, a similar organisation named Seemanta Chetana Mancha: Purvottar was established on the day of Ram Navami on the 13 April 2008 in Assam. Since then, ‘Seemanta Chetana Mancha: Purvottar’ is in service at the border areas of North-East India. The organization is committed to nation building process primarily with the people from the International Border Areas of the whole of North Eastern Region. Our platform maintains that the International Border Areas of our country are to be safe and secured for the highest order of peace, amity and development among the citizens.
