১৪ ডিসেম্বর থেকে শিলচর বইমেলা, প্রস্তুতি শুরু
Silchar Book Fair to start from 14 December

২২ অক্টোবর : আগামী ১৪ ডিসেম্বর থেকে ২৭তম শিলচর বইমেলা শুরু হচ্ছে। ১২ দিনব্যাপী এই বইমেলা চলবে ২৫ ডিসেম্বর পর্যন্ত। রবিবার শিলচর পূর্ত বিভাগের গেস্ট হাউসে শিলচর বইমেলা কমিটির এক সভায় এ সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে।

বিগত বইমেলা কমিটির সাধারণ সম্পাদক নীহার রঞ্জন পালের পৌরোহিত্যে অনুষ্ঠিত সভায় নতুন কার্যকরী কমিটিও গঠন করা হয়। এই কমিটির সভাপতি মনোনীত হয়েছেন কবি সাংবাদিক অতীন দাশ এবং সাধারণ সম্পাদক করা হয় বিপ্লব পাল চৌধুরীকে। অন্যান্য পদাধিকারীরা হলেন উপ-সভাপতি হিমাশিস ভট্টাচার্য, ডাঃ এম শান্তি কুমার সিংহ, শংকর দে, হিতব্রত রায়, স্বর্ণালী চৌধুরী, গৌতম দে ও গোষ্ঠলাল দাস। সহ সম্পাদক বাহার উদ্দিন চৌধুরী, শতদল আচার্য ও  সুজয়া ভট্টাচার্য, কোষাধ্যক্ষ পার্থসারথি দে, সাংস্কৃতিক সম্পাদক সন্তোষ চন্দ, ম্যাগাজিন সম্পাদক মিতা দাস পুরকায়স্থ এবং প্রচার সম্পাদক গৌতম তালুকদার। এছাড়া উপদেষ্টা মণ্ডলীতে যেমন কয়েকজন রয়েছেন, তেমনি অন্য কয়েকজনকে কার্যকরী সদস্য করা হয়েছে।

এ দিকে, এদিনের সভায় আলোচনাক্রমে ২৭তম শিলচর বইমেলার প্রতি সন্ধ্যায় নতুন বই তথা পুস্তক প্রকাশের ওপর গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে। নতুন কমিটির পক্ষে জনৈক কর্মকর্তা জানান, এ ব্যাপারে প্রকাশক সংস্থা ও লেখকদের কমিটির সঙ্গে সরাসরি যোগাযোগ করবে নবগঠিত এই কমিটি। সেইসঙ্গে বইপ্রেমীদের জন্য নতুন প্রকাশক গোষ্ঠীর অংশগ্রহণ ও  বেশি করে দেশ-বিদেশের বইয়ের সম্ভার মেলায় তুলে ধরা হবে বলে এ দিন সিদ্ধান্ত হয়েছে।

October 22:  The 27^th Silchar Book Fair will begin from 14 December. The 12 days Book Fair will continue till 25 December. This was decided in a meeting of the Silchar Book fair held on Sunday in the guest house of Silchar PWD.

A new working committee was formed in the meeting presided over by the erstwhile President Nihar Ranjan Paul. Veteran poet-journalist Atin Das was made the new president of the Book Fair committee whereas Biplob Paul Choudhury became the General Secretary. The other office bearers are Vice President Himashish Bhattacharjee, Dr. M.Shanti Kumar Singh, Shankar Dey, Hitabrata Roy, Swarnali choudhury, Gautam Dey and Gostolal Das. The Assiatant Secretaries are Bahar Uddin Choudhury, Satadal Acharjee and Sujaya Bhattacharjee. Partha Sarathi Dey has been entrusted the post of Treasurer, whereas Santosh Chanda has been given the post of Cultural Secretary. The post of Public Relations was assigned to Mita Das Purkayastha and Gautam Taluqdar. Apart from them, an advisory board and an executive committee comprising of some other persons were also formed.

Emphasis was given on the aspect of releasing new books every evening during the Fair. It was informed that in this regard, the new committee will collaborate with the publishing houses and the authors. It was also decided that the 27^th Book Fair will definitely offer the readers with a wide choice of publishers from across the country and beyond.
