Silchar Bar Association donates Rs. 50,000 to Cancer hospital

September 26: Silchar Bar Association donated an amount of Rs.50 thousand to Cancer Cancer Hospital & Research Centre. On Wednesday, the cheque was handed over to Dr.Ravi Kannan, Director of the hospital in a simple programme held in the Bar Library.

Speaking during the occasion, renowned Oncologist Dr. Ravi Kannan said that Barak valley is a cancer prone area. the prime reason for its occurrence is the excessive use of tobacco by the people of this valley. Dr. Kannan urged upon all the advocates present there to take an oath to give up the habit of using tobacco. He further said that the need of the hour was to spread awareness among the people about the evil effects of consuming tobacco.

Present during the occasion were President of the Bar Association Dulal Mitra, General Secretary Niladri Roy, Assistant Secretary Amiyo Das and others.
