অভিযোগ, গোপাল দেবনাথ নামে বিজেপির সক্রিয় কর্মীকে শুক্রবার সকালে মারধর করা হয়। তিনি বর্তমানে শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালে চিকিতসাধীন। গোপালবাবুর স্ত্রী সুস্মিতা দেবনাথ এজাহার দিয়ে বলেন, সুমন সাহা ও গোপাল দাস প্রথমে তাঁর স্বামীকে বিনা দোষে পেটায়। এলাকার পুর সদস্য, কংগ্রেস নেতা সজল বণিক তখন সেখানেই উপস্থিত ছিলেন। পরে তিনিও শুরু করেন চড়-থাপ্পড়।
সজলবাবু অবশ্য তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে উত্থাপিত অভিযোগ অস্বীকার করেন। তিনি বলেন, এলাকায় রাস্তার কাজের দায়িত্ব পেয়েছেন সুমন সাহা ও গোপাল দাস। ওইরাস্তা নিয়েই দুপক্ষের কথা কাটাকাটি হচ্ছিল। তিনি গিয়ে তাদের নিরস্ত করেন বলেই দাবি তাঁর।
রাঙ্গিরখাড়ির পুলিশ ইনচার্জ উতপল চন্দ বিজেপি নেতাদের জানিয়েছেন, তদন্ত চলছে। দ্রুত উপযুক্ত ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে বলে আশ্বাস দেন তিনি।
It was alleged that one Gopal Debnath, an active worker of BJP was beaten on Friday morning. He is at present undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. In this regard, a FIR was lodged by Susmita Debnath, the wife of Gopal Debnath at Rangirkhari Town outpost wherein she alleged that her husband was beaten without any reason by Suman Saha and Gopal Das. It was further alleged that Ward Commissioner of Shib Colony area and congress leader Sajal Banik was also present there when the incident took place. He was also accused of beating Gopal Debnath.
However, when contacted by way2barak, Sajal Banik refuted the allegations as totally baseless. Speaking to our correspondent, Ward commissioner Sajal Banik said that Suman Saha and Gopal Das has got the contract for construction of road in that locality. On the issue of road construction, there was alteration of words between two groups. He later on intervened and ensued peace between them.
Meanwhile, Utpal Chanda, Police in-charge of Rangirkhari Town outpost informed BJP supporters that investigation into this matter is going on and soon appropriate steps would be taken.
