Separate Barak not the solution of present crisis: Prof. Nandini Bhattacharjee

২৪ জানুয়ারি : সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া গ্রুপ ওপিনিয়ন মুভার্সের উদ্যোগে শিলচরের দ্বিজেন্দ্র মেমোরিয়াল ট্রাস্টের কার্যালয়ে ২৩ জানুয়ারি সন্ধ্যায় “আসামের বর্তমান অবস্থা ও আমাদের কর্তব্য” বিষয়ে এক আলোচনাসভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। এতে মুখ্য অতিথি হিসেবে ছিলেন বর্ধমান বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ইংরেজি ও সংস্কৃতি অধ্যয়ন বিভাগের প্রধান অধ্যাপক নন্দিনী ভট্টাচার্য।

আসামের বর্তমান পরিস্থিতির প্রেক্ষিতে অধ্যাপক ভট্টাচার্য গভীর উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করে বলেন, এই পৃথিবীতে কোনও মানুষই অবৈধ ব্যক্তি বিবেচিত হতে পারে না। তিনি বলেন, শরণার্থী সমস্যা বিশ্বব্যাপী এবং সব জায়গাতেই শরণার্থীরা প্রান্তিক জনগোষ্ঠী হিসেবে বসবাস করছেন। বাস্তুহারা এইসব মানুষ নিরাপত্তার অভাব অনুভব করেন। এই প্রসঙ্গে তিনি দার্শনিক ক্যান্ট, হেগেল ও রবীন্দ্রনাথের জাতীয়বাদের উল্লেখ করেন। বরাক পৃথকীকরণ সব সমস্যার সমাধান নয় বলে তিনি অভিমত ব্যক্ত করেন।তাঁর মতে, বিভাজন স্থায়ী শান্তি আনতে সক্ষম নয়, বরং আলাপ আলোচনার মাধ্যমে সমস্যা সমাধানের পথ খুঁজতে হবে।

সভায় মতামত ব্যক্ত করেন আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপক দিব্যেন্দু দাস, অধ্যাপক অনিন্দ্য সেনচৌধুরী, সাংবাদিক পীযূষ দাস, শিক্ষাবিদ সুমিত্রা দত্ত, অধ্যাপক রমাপ্রসাদ বিশ্বাস, সমাজকর্মী গৌরী দত্তবিশ্বাস, শিক্ষাবিদ দিলীপ দে, শিক্ষক নেতা কৃষ্ণেন্দু রায়, শিক্ষিকা মধুছন্দা দে রায়, গ্রুপ অ্যাডমিন দীপক সেনগুপ্ত, সমাজকর্মী অরবিন্দ রায় ও সাংস্কৃতিক ব্যক্তিত্ব জয়শ্রীভূষণ প্রমুখ। মতবিনিময় সভার সঞ্চালক শিক্ষাবিদ দিলীপ দে বরাকে অসমিয়া আগ্রাসনের সঙ্গে মেরুকরণের রাজনীতিতে নাগরিকত্ব বিলের উল্লেখ করেন। অধ্যাপক অনিন্দ্য সেনচৌধুরী নাগরিকত্ব বিলের স্ববিরোধিতা ও অসারত্ব ব্যাখ্যা করেন। অধ্যাপক দিব্যেন্দু দাস বরাক উপত্যকার সামগ্রিক সমস্যার ওপর ইংরেজি ভাষার প্রবন্ধ, সাহিত্যের অপ্রতুলতা ব্যক্ত করে এ বিষয়ে অধিক চর্চা ও সর্বভারতীয় পর্যায়ে বিষয়টি প্রচারে আনার জন্য ইংরেজি ভাষার রচনার প্রয়োজনীয়তার ক্ষেত্রে গুরুত্ব আরোপ করেন।

পীযূষ দাস নাগরিকত্ব বিলের ফলে ভবিষ্যতে বাংলাদেশের হিন্দুদের সমস্যার বিষয়ে আলোকপাত করেন। শিক্ষাবিদ সুমিত্রা দত্ত অসমিয়া গণমাধ্যমে ক্রমবর্ধমান ভাষিক ও সাম্প্রদায়িক প্রচারে উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেন। সেইসঙ্গে তিনি বরাক উপত্যকার জনগণের সংঘবদ্ধ আন্দোলনের প্রয়োজনীয়তা ব্যক্ত করেন। সমাজকর্মী গৌরী দত্তবিশ্বাস আসামের বাঙালিদের অস্তিত্বের সংকটের প্রেক্ষিতে বরাকে আশানুরূপ প্রতিবাদী আন্দোলন গড়ে না ওঠায় গভীর খেদ প্রকাশ করেন। কৃষ্ণেন্দু রায় নাগরিকত্ব বিলে নানা অসঙ্গতির ব্যাখ্যা করেন। মধুছন্দা দে রায় শিক্ষাজগতে বরাকের বাংলা স্কুলে অসমিয়াভাষী শিক্ষক নিয়োগের ফলে শিক্ষাদানে বাস্তব সমস্যার কথা উল্লেখ করেন। তিনি এর ফলে স্থানীয় শিক্ষিত যুবক-যুবতীর চাকরির ক্ষেত্রে বঞ্চনায় ক্ষোভ ব্যক্ত করেন।

সভার আহ্বায়ক দীপক সেনগুপ্ত বলেন, সংবিধান বহির্ভূত শব্দ ভূমিপুত্র নিয়ে রাজনীতির তীব্র বিরোধিতা করেন। তিনি বলেন, বাঙালিরা ঐতিহাসিক প্রেক্ষাপটে আসামের ভূমিপুত্র এবং তাদের ভূমিপুত্র হিসেবে গণ্য না করা এক গভীর ষড়যন্ত্র। অরবিন্দ রায় বলেন, আসামের বর্তমান পরিস্থিতি জাতীয়তাবাদ বনাম হিন্দুত্ববাদের লড়াইয়ের ফল যাতে হিন্দু বাঙালি বিদ্বেষ জাগিয়ে তোলার চেষ্টা চলছে। বর্তমানে আসাম দু’ভাগে বিভক্ত। বরাকবাসীর সমস্যার সমাধান একমাত্র বরাক পৃথকীকরণের দ্বারাই সম্ভব বলে তিনি অভিমত ব্যক্ত করেন। কারণ বর্তমানে বরাকবাসী ঔপনিবেশিক শাসনে রয়েছেন। সভার শেষে সঞ্চালক দিলীপ দে বলেন, আসামের হিন্দু বাঙালিদের টার্গেট করে একঘরে করার চেষ্টা চলছে। তাই বরাক উপত্যকার হিন্দু বাঙালিদের অন্যান্য ধর্মীয় ও ভাষা গোষ্ঠীর মানুষের সঙ্গে সমন্বয়ের প্রয়োজনীয়তার ওপর তিনি গুরুত্ব আরোপ করেন।

January 23: None in this world can be regarded as an illegal inhabitant. The issue of refugees is a world phenomenon and everywhere the refugees are staying as a marginalised community. The displaced persons suffer from an unknown pain and sense of insecurity. This was expressed by Prof. Nandini Bhattacharjee, Head of English and Sanskrit Departments of University of Burdwan. Prof. Bhattacharjee was the key speaker in the discussion programme entitled ‘The present scenario in Assam vis-a-vis our Responsibilities’ organised by virtual media group Opinion Movers in the office of the Dwijendra-Dolly Memorial Trust (opposite Great Eastern Hotel), Silchar on Wednesday evening.

Prof. Nandini Bhattacharjee dwelling on the issue of migration and marginalised communities gave instances of the concept of nationalism from the writings of Kant, Hegel and Rabindranath Tagore. She said the solution of the problems faced by the people of this valley does not lie in demanding ‘separate Barak.’ She opinied that division or partition cannot be seen as a panacea to the existing problems. Prof. Bhattacharjee rather stressed upon dialogues as a means to find solution of the existing problems.

Others who took active part in the deliberations were Prof. Dibyendu Das, Dr. Aninda Shyam Choudhury, Journalist Pijush Das, Educationist Sumitra Dutta and Dilip Dey, Prof. Ramaprasad Bhattacharjee, Leader of Teachers’ Movement Krishnendu Roy, Social Worker Arobindo Roy, cultural activist Jayasree Bhushan, Gouri Dutta Biswas, Madhuchanda Dey and Group Admin of ‘Opinion Movers’ Dipak Sengupta. The discussion programme was compered by educationist Dilip Dey.

Dilip Dey referred to the politics of polarization prevalent in the state at present which has driven away the Assamese and the Bengali communities poles apart. He also mentioned about the Assamese aggression going on in Barak Valley now. Professor Anindya Shyam Choudhury explained the inner contradiction prevalent in the  citizenship bill. Professor Dibyendu Das stressed upon more writings in English language on the overall problems of Barak Valley so that the people in other parts of the country become alive to the situation prevalent in this part of the country.

Journalist Pijush Das highlighted that the Hindus in Bangladesh might have to face difficulties as a result of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.Educationist Sumitra Dutta expressed deep concern on the linguistic communal propaganda going on in Assamese media. She further urged upon the necessity of united struggle by the people of this valley. Krishnendu Roy upholded the various subtle intricacies prevalent in the Citizenship Bill.

Arobindo Roy highlighted the present clash between the nationalist and Hindutva forces going on in the state. He said that nefarious attempt has been on to target the Hindu Bengalis in negative perspective. He further said that the panacea for the inhabitants of this valley lies in separate Barak. Group Admin of ‘Opinion Movers’ Dipak Sengupta criticised the term ‘son of the soil’ in severe terms and said that this term is unconstitutional. He said that the Bengalis are the ‘son of the soil’ of Assam in the historical context.

In this regard, it needs mention that ‘Opinion Movers’ in the recent past has also organised such inter-active sessions, which has indeed helped in molding public opinion and providing direction in shaping the future of the valley.
