Rotary Club of Silchar Pink comes into existence
December 3: “Whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world it will be known by the results it achieves.” This statement of Paul Harris, Rotary Founder was reiterated by the Rotarians during the Charter Presentation Ceremony of Rotary Club of Silchar Pink. A notable feature of this Silchar Pink Club is that it comprises of all female members. In entire South Asia, there exists only one such Pink Club of Rotary at Aurangabad. December 3 will go down the annals of history as the second all-female Rotary Club in South Asia. This was claimed by Chandana Purkayastha, the founder President of Rotary Club of Silchar Pink in their Charter Presentation Ceremony.
The Charter Presentation ceremony began with lightning of the lamp by the dignitaries. Present there were Rotary District Governor Sayantan Gupta of District 3240, Past District Governors Manash Choudhury, Pravath Kedia, Arijit Endow, Kalpana Khawnd, Nominated District Governor Subhashish Choudhury, President of Rotary Club of Silchar Dr. Kiranmoy Das, Adviser of Rotary Pink Taimur Raja Choudhury, President of Rotary Pink Chandana Purkayastha, its Secretary Samita Dutta and Treasurer Jayasree Kar among others.
Rotary District Governor Sayantan Gupta handed over the Charter to President of Rotary Pink Chandana Purkayastha in the presence of other club members. The 27 members of Rotary Club of Silchar Pink took oath on that day. The oath taking ceremony was led by the District Governor Sayantan Gupta.
The birth of Rotary Club of Silchar Pink would take the total tally of 4 Rotary Clubs at Silchar. The new office bearers of Rotary Pink pledged to undertake social outreach activities and make their presence felt by their action.
