Revival of BSNL remains the prime demand in its 8th District Conference of Employees Union
July 15: Immediate steps should be taken by the Government of India for the revival of BSNL. This was the prime demand of the employees during the 8th District Conference of BSNL Employees Union, Silchar which was held on 13 and 14 July, 2019.
Keeping in tune with the rest of the country, the Silchar district chapter of the BSNL Employees Union also raised several other demands, which include- 4G spectrum to be allotted to BSNL as the proposal already submitted, approval of land monetisation to be given to BSNL immediately, DOT and TRAI to should act in favour of BSNL as because it is a cent percent government-owned company and revision of pay and allowances from 01-01-2017 with 15 percent fitment benefit to the BSNL employees.
The 2-day district conference witnessed a brain-storming session in which large number of its employees took part and spoke on issues related to their demands. The main speakers during the conference were Bijoy Deka, Circle Secretary, BSNLEU, Assam Circle and Atin Deb Choudhury, General Secretary, SDIEA, Silchar Division.
On that day, a new committee was also formed with Manik Lal Sinha as the President and Gopika Ranjan Roy as the General Secretary. Further, Sidhu Bhushan Roy, S.I. Choudhury & Arun Kumar Das became the Vice Presidents. Soshanka Mohan Roy was entrusted the reponsibility of the Treasurer. A 3-member advisory committee was also formed comprising of Numan Rashid Barbhuiya, Narayan Chandra Das and Dulal Chandra Roy.
