Residents of Itkhola Chaitanya Nagar demands rehabilitation, submits memorandum to DC

January 18: A memorandum demanding rehabilitation by the residents of Itkhola Chaitanya Nagar was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar on Saturday. The said bridge over river Barak would connect Dudpatil with Silchar town. However, the residents of the locality expressed apprehension that, once the bridge is constructed than the approach area will cover a huge area of settlement of the people of Chaitanya Nagar.

It was in this connection that the residents of the area submitted the memorandum to DC Cachar. They appealed that they have been residing in the area within Municipal Ward No.24 since generations and the proposed bridge would uproot them from their houses.
