Rahul Gandhi pays last tribute to Tarun Gogoi in Guwahati, meets with his family

Nov. 25: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached Guwahati and paid his last tribut to Late Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday at Sankardev Kalakshetra. He then went to the government residence of the departed leader to console the bereaved family.

On the demise of Tarun Gogoi, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “Shri Tarun Gogoi was a true Congress leader. He devoted his life to bringing all the people and communities of Assam together. For me, he was a great and wise teacher. I loved and respected him deeply. I will miss him. My love and condolences to Gaurav & the family.”

The veteran Congress leader breathed his last at 5.34 PM on Monday in Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH). He was 86. The three-time CM has been on life-support during the past two days following multi-organ failure on 21 November.

The last rites of former Assam Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Tarun Gogoi shall be performed at Navagraha Smashan in Guwahati on 26 November, 2020. The decision about the date and venue of cremation of the veteran leader was finalised as per the wishes of his family and the Congress party.
