• 7 April, 1348: Prague University, first university in central Europe, formed by Charles IV.
• 7 April, 1652: Dutch establish settlement at Cape Town, South Africa.
• 7 April, 1827: English chemist John Walker invents wooden matches.
• 7 April, 1906: The world’s 1st animated cartoon “Humorous Phases of Funny Faces” by J. Stuart Blackton is released.

• 7 April, 1920: Pandit Ravi Shankar, Sitar maestro was born on this day. He one of the greatest sitar players of post-Independence India and the country’s best-known classical musician in the West, was born on 7 April 1920. He did more than any other person to popularise Indian classical music in the West. 
• 7 April, 1921: Revolutionary leader, Sun Yat-sen, regarded as the Father as modern China is elected President of China at Canton, though China remains divided into north and south and subject to rivalries of warlords.
• 7 April, 1926: Italian dictator Mussolini is shot at 3 times by Violet Gibson in Rome, she only hits him once in the nose.

• 7 April, 1934: In India, Mahatma Gandhi suspends his campaign of civil disobedience movement.
• 7 April, 1935: Shankar Abaji Bhise, an Indian scientist has developed about 200 inventions, for about 40 of which he took patents. He died on 7 April 1935. Some of his popular inventions include Bhise type caster, Rotary multiple type-caster, Automatic weighing and packing machine for railways, Shella or Rola soap, An automatic machine capable of composing 3000 characters per minute, Automatic bicycle stand with a lock, An automatic dwell machine, Auto-toilet flusher, Vertolite sign lamp, An electrical gadget which separated various gases from air and many more.
• 7 April, 1942: Birthday of Indian actor Jeetendra who now produces TV and Films and is the chairman of Balaji Telefilms. Known also as ‘Jumping Jack’ for his unique dance style, Jeetendra has become a legend and was awarded Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003. He was born in Amritsar, Punjab and later moved to bollywood. Jeetendra is now a proud father of Ekta Kapoor (Runs Balaji Telefilms) and Tusshar Kapoor (Actor).

• 7 April, 1948: World Health Organization (WHO) formed by the United Nations.
• 7 April, 1983: Oldest human skeleton, aged 80,000 years, discovered in Egypt.
• 7 April, 2003:The U.S, which was being governed by the Bush administration, launched an attack on Baghdad on April 7 the same year. A short while later the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was overthrown from power. He was eventually captured and executed by the United States.
