President, Prime Minister condole demise of former Union Minister Kabindra Purkayastha

New Delhi, January 7 : President of India Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed deep sorrow over the demise of senior leader and former Union Minister Shri Kabindra Purkayastha.

In a post on her official X handle, the President said she was saddened by the passing of Shri Purkayastha, remembering his service as a Member of Parliament and Union Minister. She noted that he served the people with dedication and integrity and worked tirelessly for the progress of Assam. The President conveyed her heartfelt condolences to his family members and admirers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the loss. In his message on X, the Prime Minister described Shri Purkayastha as a committed public servant whose contributions to society and Assam’s development would always be remembered. He highlighted Purkayastha’s vital role in strengthening the Bharatiya Janata Party across Assam and extended his thoughts to the bereaved family and admirers, praying for peace to the departed soul.

Shri Kabindra Purkayastha was a respected political figure known for his long association with public service and his contributions to the development of Assam.
